| 2O Lord, listen to me! Pay attention to my plea for mercy! | 2Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer. |
| 3If you, O LORD, were to keep track of sins, O Lord, who could stand before you? | 3LORD, if you kept a record of our sins, who, O Lord, could ever survive? |
| 4But you are willing to forgive, so that you might be honored. | 4But you offer forgiveness, that we might learn to fear you. |
| 5I rely on the LORD, I rely on him with my whole being; I wait for his assuring word. | 5I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on him. I have put my hope in his word. |
| 6I yearn for the Lord, more than watchmen do for the morning, yes, more than watchmen do for the morning. | 6I long for the Lord more than sentries long for the dawn, yes, more than sentries long for the dawn. |
