| 1"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. | 1"Arise! Shine! For your light arrives! The splendor of the LORD shines on you! |
| 2See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. | 2For, look, darkness covers the earth and deep darkness covers the nations, but the LORD shines on you; his splendor appears over you. |
| 3Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. | 3Nations come to your light, kings to your bright light. |
| 4"Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the hip. | 4Look all around you! They all gather and come to you--your sons come from far away and your daughters are escorted by guardians. |

| 13"The glory of Lebanon will come to you, the juniper, the fir and the cypress together, to adorn my sanctuary; and I will glorify the place for my feet. | 13The splendor of Lebanon will come to you, its evergreens, firs, and cypresses together, to beautify my palace; I will bestow honor on my throne room. |
| 14The children of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the LORD, Zion of the Holy One of Israel. | 14The children of your oppressors will come bowing to you; all who treated you with disrespect will bow down at your feet. | 15"Although you have been forsaken and hated, with no one traveling through, I will make you the everlasting pride and the joy of all generations. | 15You were once abandoned and despised, with no one passing through, but I will make you a permanent source of pride and joy to coming generations. |
| 16You will drink the milk of nations and be nursed at royal breasts. Then you will know that I, the LORD, am your Savior, your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob. | 16You will drink the milk of nations; you will nurse at the breasts of kings. Then you will recognize that I, the LORD, am your deliverer, your protector, the powerful ruler of Jacob. |

| 21Then all your people will be righteous and they will possess the land forever.
