Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying: | 1Then the LORD said to Moses, |
“See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. | 2“Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. |
And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, | 3I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. |
to design artistic works, to work in gold, in silver, in bronze, | 4He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. |
in cutting jewels for setting, in carving wood, and to work in all manner of workmanship. | 5He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft! |
“And I, indeed I, have appointed with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and I have put wisdom in the hearts of all the gifted artisans, that they may make all that I have commanded you: | 6“And I have personally appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to be his assistant. Moreover, I have given special skill to all the gifted craftsmen so they can make all the things I have commanded you to make: |
the tabernacle of meeting, the ark of the Testimony and the mercy seat that is on it, and all the furniture of the tabernacle— | 7the Tabernacle; the Ark of the Covenant; the Ark’s cover—the place of atonement; all the furnishings of the Tabernacle; |
the table and its utensils, the pure gold lampstand with all its utensils, the altar of incense, | 8the table and its utensils; the pure gold lampstand with all its accessories; the incense altar; |
the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils, and the laver and its base— | 9the altar of burnt offering with all its utensils; the washbasin with its stand; |
the garments of ministry, the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, to minister as priests, | 10the beautifully stitched garments—the sacred garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments for his sons to wear as they minister as priests; |
and the anointing oil and sweet incense for the holy place. According to all that I have commanded you they shall do.” | 11the anointing oil; the fragrant incense for the Holy Place. The craftsmen must make everything as I have commanded you.” Instructions for the Sabbath |
And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, | 12The LORD then gave these instructions to Moses: |
“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you. | 13“Tell the people of Israel: ‘Be careful to keep my Sabbath day, for the Sabbath is a sign of the covenant between me and you from generation to generation. It is given so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. |
You shall keep the Sabbath, therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. | 14You must keep the Sabbath day, for it is a holy day for you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; anyone who works on that day will be cut off from the community. |
Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. | 15You have six days each week for your ordinary work, but the seventh day must be a Sabbath day of complete rest, a holy day dedicated to the LORD. Anyone who works on the Sabbath must be put to death. |
Therefore the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. | 16The people of Israel must keep the Sabbath day by observing it from generation to generation. This is a covenant obligation for all time. |
It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.’ ” | 17It is a permanent sign of my covenant with the people of Israel. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day he stopped working and was refreshed.’” |
And when He had made an end of speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses two tablets of the Testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God. | 18When the LORD finished speaking with Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two stone tablets inscribed with the terms of the covenant, written by the finger of God. |
