“Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’ Say to your brothers, “You are my people,” and to your sisters, “You have received mercy.” Say ye unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah. Say to your brothers, “Ammi,” and to your sisters, “Ruhamah.” “Say of your brothers, ‘My people,’ and of your sisters, ‘My loved one.’
Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not My wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adultery from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts. “Plead with your mother, plead— for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband— that she put away her whoring from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts; Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts; “Dispute with your mother, dispute, Because she is not my wife, and I am not her husband; But she must remove her infidelity from her face And her adultery from between her breasts, “Rebuke your mother, rebuke her, for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband. Let her remove the adulterous look from her face and the unfaithfulness from between her breasts.
Otherwise, I will strip her naked and expose her like the day of her birth. I will make her like a desert and turn her into a parched land, and I will let her die of thirst. lest I strip her naked and make her as in the day she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and make her like a parched land, and kill her with thirst. Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. Otherwise, I will strip her naked And expose her as on the day she was born. I will also make her like a wilderness, Make her like desert land, And put her to death with thirst. Otherwise I will strip her naked and make her as bare as on the day she was born; I will make her like a desert, turn her into a parched land, and slay her with thirst.
I will have no compassion on her children, because they are the children of adultery. Upon her children also I will have no mercy, because they are children of whoredom. And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms. “Also, I will take no pity on her children, Because they are children of infidelity. I will not show my love to her children, because they are the children of adultery.
For their mother has played the harlot and has conceived them in disgrace. For she thought, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me bread and water, wool and linen, oil and drink.’ For their mother has played the whore; she who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’ For their mother hath played the harlot: she that conceived them hath done shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, that give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, mine oil and my drink. “For their mother has committed prostitution; She who conceived them has acted shamefully. For she said, ‘I will go after my lovers, Who give me my bread and my water, My wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.’ Their mother has been unfaithful and has conceived them in disgrace. She said, ‘I will go after my lovers, who give me my food and my water, my wool and my linen, my olive oil and my drink.’
Therefore, behold, I will hedge up her path with thorns; I will enclose her with a wall, so she cannot find her way. Therefore I will hedge up her way with thorns, and I will build a wall against her, so that she cannot find her paths. Therefore, behold, I will hedge up thy way with thorns, and make a wall, that she shall not find her paths. “Therefore, behold, I will obstruct her way with thorns, And I will build a stone wall against her so that she cannot find her paths. Therefore I will block her path with thornbushes; I will wall her in so that she cannot find her way.
She will pursue her lovers but not catch them; she will seek them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will return to my first husband, for then I was better off than now.’ She shall pursue her lovers but not overtake them, and she shall seek them but shall not find them. Then she shall say, ‘I will go and return to my first husband, for it was better for me then than now.’ And she shall follow after her lovers, but she shall not overtake them; and she shall seek them, but shall not find them: then shall she say, I will go and return to my first husband; for then was it better with me than now. “And she will pursue her lovers, but she will not reach them; And she will seek them, but will not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my first husband, Because it was better for me then than now!’ She will chase after her lovers but not catch them; she will look for them but not find them. Then she will say, ‘I will go back to my husband as at first, for then I was better off than now.’
For she does not acknowledge that it was I who gave her grain, new wine, and oil, who lavished on her silver and gold— which they crafted for Baal. And she did not know that it was I who gave her the grain, the wine, and the oil, and who lavished on her silver and gold, which they used for Baal. For she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal. “Yet she does not know that it was I myself who gave her the grain, the new wine, and the oil, And lavished on her silver and gold, Which they used for Baal. She has not acknowledged that I was the one who gave her the grain, the new wine and oil, who lavished on her the silver and gold— which they used for Baal.
Therefore I will take back My grain in its time and My new wine in its season; I will take away My wool and linen, which were given to cover her nakedness. Therefore I will take back my grain in its time, and my wine in its season, and I will take away my wool and my flax, which were to cover her nakedness. Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness. “Therefore, I will take back My grain at harvest time And My new wine in its season. I will also take away My wool and My flax That I gave to cover her nakedness. “Therefore I will take away my grain when it ripens, and my new wine when it is ready. I will take back my wool and my linen, intended to cover her naked body.
And then I will expose her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My hands. Now I will uncover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and no one shall rescue her out of my hand. And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, and none shall deliver her out of mine hand. “So now I will uncover her lewdness Before the eyes of her lovers, And no one will rescue her from My hand. So now I will expose her lewdness before the eyes of her lovers; no one will take her out of my hands.
I will put an end to all her exultation: her feasts, New Moons, and Sabbaths— all her appointed feasts. And I will put an end to all her mirth, her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her appointed feasts. I will also cause all her mirth to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts. “I will also put an end to all her joy, Her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, And all her festivals. I will stop all her celebrations: her yearly festivals, her New Moons, her Sabbath days—all her appointed festivals.
I will destroy her vines and fig trees, which she thinks are the wages paid by her lovers. So I will make them into a thicket, and the beasts of the field will devour them. And I will lay waste her vines and her fig trees, of which she said, ‘These are my wages, which my lovers have given me.’ I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall devour them. And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, whereof she hath said, These are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field shall eat them. “And I will destroy her vines and fig trees, Of which she said, ‘They are my wages for prostitution Which my lovers have given me.’ And I will turn them into a forest, And the animals of the field will devour them. I will ruin her vines and her fig trees, which she said were her pay from her lovers; I will make them a thicket, and wild animals will devour them.
I will punish her for the days of the Baals when she burned incense to them, when she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers. But Me she forgot,” declares the LORD. And I will punish her for the feast days of the Baals when she burned offerings to them and adorned herself with her ring and jewelry, and went after her lovers and forgot me, declares the LORD. And I will visit upon her the days of Baalim, wherein she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgat me, saith the LORD. “I will punish her for the days of the Baals When she used to offer sacrifices to them And adorn herself with her nose ring and jewelry, And follow her lovers, so that she forgot Me,” declares the LORD. I will punish her for the days she burned incense to the Baals; she decked herself with rings and jewelry, and went after her lovers, but me she forgot,” declares the LORD.
“Therefore, behold, I will allure her and lead her to the wilderness, and speak to her tenderly. “Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak tenderly to her. Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her. “Therefore, behold, I am going to persuade her, Bring her into the wilderness, And speak kindly to her. “Therefore I am now going to allure her; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak tenderly to her.
There I will give back her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor into a gateway of hope. There she will respond as she did in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt. And there I will give her her vineyards and make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. And there she shall answer as in the days of her youth, as at the time when she came out of the land of Egypt. And I will give her her vineyards from thence, and the valley of Achor for a door of hope: and she shall sing there, as in the days of her youth, and as in the day when she came up out of the land of Egypt. “Then I will give her her vineyards from there, And the Valley of Achor as a door of hope. And she will respond there as in the days of her youth, As in the day when she went up from the land of Egypt. There I will give her back her vineyards, and will make the Valley of Achor a door of hope. There she will respond as in the days of her youth, as in the day she came up out of Egypt.
In that day,” declares the LORD, “you will call Me ‘my Husband,’ and no longer call Me ‘my Master.’ “And in that day, declares the LORD, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’ And it shall be at that day, saith the LORD, that thou shalt call me Ishi; and shalt call me no more Baali. “And it will come about on that day,” declares the LORD, “That you will call Me my husband And no longer call Me my Baal. “In that day,” declares the LORD, “you will call me ‘my husband’; you will no longer call me ‘my master.’
For I will remove from her lips the names of the Baals; no longer will their names be invoked. For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, and they shall be remembered by name no more. For I will take away the names of Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their name. “For I will remove the names of the Baals from her mouth, So that they will no longer be mentioned by their names. I will remove the names of the Baals from her lips; no longer will their names be invoked.
On that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that crawl on the ground. And I will abolish bow and sword and weapons of war in the land, and will make them lie down in safety. And I will make for them a covenant on that day with the beasts of the field, the birds of the heavens, and the creeping things of the ground. And I will abolish the bow, the sword, and war from the land, and I will make you lie down in safety. And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to lie down safely. “On that day I will also make a covenant for them With the animals of the field, The birds of the sky, And the crawling things of the ground. And I will eliminate the bow, the sword, and war from the land, And will let them lie down in safety. In that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the creatures that move along the ground. Bow and sword and battle I will abolish from the land, so that all may lie down in safety.
So I will betroth you to Me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in loving devotion and compassion. And I will betroth you to me forever. I will betroth you to me in righteousness and in justice, in steadfast love and in mercy. And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies. “I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In favor and in compassion, I will betroth you to me forever; I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.
And I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will know the LORD.” I will betroth you to me in faithfulness. And you shall know the LORD. I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD. And I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness. Then you will know the LORD. I will betroth you in faithfulness, and you will acknowledge the LORD.
On that day I will respond—” declares the LORD— “I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth. “And in that day I will answer, declares the LORD, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth, And it shall come to pass in that day, I will hear, saith the LORD, I will hear the heavens, and they shall hear the earth; “And it will come about on that day that I will respond,” declares the LORD. “I will respond to the heavens, and they will respond to the earth, “In that day I will respond,” declares the LORD— “I will respond to the skies, and they will respond to the earth;
And the earth will respond to the grain, to the new wine and oil, and they will respond to Jezreel. and the earth shall answer the grain, the wine, and the oil, and they shall answer Jezreel, And the earth shall hear the corn, and the wine, and the oil; and they shall hear Jezreel. And the earth will respond to the grain, to the new wine, and to the oil, And they will respond to Jezreel. and the earth will respond to the grain, the new wine and the olive oil, and they will respond to Jezreel.
And I will sow her as My own in the land, and I will have compassion on ‘No Compassion.’ I will say to those called ‘Not My People,’ ‘You are My people,’ and they will say, ‘You are my God.’ ” and I will sow her for myself in the land. And I will have mercy on No Mercy, and I will say to Not My People, ‘You are my people’; and he shall say, ‘You are my God.’” And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God. “I will sow her for Myself in the land. I will also have compassion on her who had not obtained compassion, And I will say to those who were not My people, ‘You are My people!’ And they will say, ‘You are my God!’” I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
