1 A Psalm of Asaph. The Mighty One, God the LORD, speaks and summons the earth from where the sun rises to where it sets. 3 Our God approaches and will not be silent! Consuming fire precedes Him, and a tempest rages around Him. Our God comes; he does not keep silence; before him is a devouring fire, around him a mighty tempest. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. May our God come and not keep silent; Fire devours before Him, And a storm is violently raging around Him. Our God comes and will not be silent; a fire devours before him, and around him a tempest rages.
4 He summons the heavens above, and the earth, that He may judge His people: He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. 8 I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices, and your burnt offerings are ever before Me. Not for your sacrifices do I rebuke you; your burnt offerings are continually before me. I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, <i>to have been</i> continually before me. “I do not rebuke you for your sacrifices, And your burnt offerings are continually before Me. I bring no charges against you concerning your sacrifices or concerning your burnt offerings, which are ever before me.
9 I have no need for a bull from your stall or goats from your pens, I will not accept a bull from your house or goats from your folds. I will take no bullock out of thy house, <i>nor</i> he goats out of thy folds. “I will not take a bull from your house, Nor male goats from your folds. I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,
10 for every beast of the forest is Mine— the cattle on a thousand hills. For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle on a thousand hills. 11 I know every bird in the mountains, and the creatures of the field are Mine. I know all the birds of the hills, and all that moves in the field is mine. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field <i>are</i> mine. “I know every bird of the mountains, And everything that moves in the field is Mine. I know every bird in the mountains, and the insects in the fields are mine.
12 If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world is Mine, and the fullness thereof. “If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for the world and its fullness are mine. 14 Sacrifice a thank offering to God, and fulfill your vows to the Most High. 15 Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor Me.” and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.” And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. 16 To the wicked, however, God says, “What right have you to recite My statutes and to bear My covenant on your lips? But to the wicked God says: “What right have you to recite my statutes or take my covenant on your lips? But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or <i>that</i> thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? But to the wicked God says, “What <i>right</i> do you have to tell of My statutes And to take My covenant in your mouth? But to the wicked person, God says: “What right have you to recite my laws or take my covenant on your lips?
17 For you hate My instruction and cast My words behind you. For you hate discipline, and you cast my words behind you. Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. “For you yourself hate discipline, And you throw My words behind you. You hate my instruction and cast my words behind you.
18 When you see a thief, you befriend him, and throw in your lot with adulterers. If you see a thief, you are pleased with him, and you keep company with adulterers. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. “When you see a thief, you become friends with him, And you associate with adulterers. When you see a thief, you join with him; you throw in your lot with adulterers.
19 You unleash your mouth for evil and unharness your tongue for deceit. “You give your mouth free rein for evil, and your tongue frames deceit. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit. “You let your mouth loose in evil, And your tongue harnesses deceit. You use your mouth for evil and harness your tongue to deceit.
20 You sit and malign your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. You sit and speak against your brother; you slander your own mother’s son. Thou sittest <i>and</i> speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother's son. “You sit and speak against your brother; You slander your own mother’s son. You sit and testify against your brother and slander your own mother’s son.
21 You have done these things, and I kept silent; you thought I was just like you. But now I rebuke you and accuse you to your face. These things you have done, and I have been silent; you thought that I was one like yourself. But now I rebuke you and lay the charge before you. These <i>things</i> hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether <i>such an one</i> as thyself: <i>but</i> I will reprove thee, and set <i>them</i> in order before thine eyes. “These things you have done <i>and</i> I kept silent; You thought that I was <i>just</i> like you; I will rebuke you and present <i>the case</i> before your eyes. When you did these things and I kept silent, you thought I was exactly like you. But I now arraign you and set my accusations before you.
22 Now consider this, you who forget God, lest I tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you: “Mark this, then, you who forget God, lest I tear you apart, and there be none to deliver! Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear <i>you</i> in pieces, and <i>there be</i> none to deliver. “Now consider this, you who forget God, Or I will tear <i>you</i> in pieces, and there will be no one to save <i>you.</i> “Consider this, you who forget God, or I will tear you to pieces, with no one to rescue you:
23 He who sacrifices a thank offering honors Me, and to him who rights his way, I will show the salvation of God.” The one who offers thanksgiving as his sacrifice glorifies me; to one who orders his way rightly I will show the salvation of God!” Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth <i>his</i> conversation <i>aright</i> will I shew the salvation of God. “He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors Me; And to him who sets <i>his</i> way <i>properly</i> I will show the salvation of God.” Those who sacrifice thank offerings honor me, and to the blameless I will show my salvation.”
