1 “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands. “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: ‘The words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand, who walks among the seven golden lampstands. Unto the angel of the church of Ephesus write; These things saith he that holdeth the seven stars in his right hand, who walketh in the midst of the seven golden candlesticks; “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: The One who holds the seven stars in His right hand, the One who walks among the seven golden lampstands, says this: “To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lampstands.
2 I know your deeds, your labor, and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate those who are evil, and you have tested and exposed as liars those who falsely claim to be apostles. “‘I know your works, your toil and your patient endurance, and how you cannot bear with those who are evil, but have tested those who call themselves apostles and are not, and found them to be false. I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: ‘I know your deeds and your labor and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil people, and you have put those who call themselves apostles to the test, and they are not, and you found them <i>to be</i> false; I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false.
3 Without growing weary, you have persevered and endured many things for the sake of My name. I know you are enduring patiently and bearing up for my name’s sake, and you have not grown weary. And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. and you have perseverance and have endured on account of My name, and have not become weary. You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary.
4 But I have this against you: You have abandoned your first love. But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Nevertheless I have <i>somewhat</i> against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. But I have <i>this</i> against you, that you have left your first love. Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
5 Therefore, keep in mind how far you have fallen. Repent and perform the deeds you did at first. But if you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent. Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Therefore, remember from where you have fallen, and repent, and do the deeds you did at first; or else I am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand from its place—unless you repent. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
6 But you have this to your credit: You hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Yet this you have: you hate the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. But this thou hast, that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. But you have this, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. But you have this in your favor: You hate the practices of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.
7 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant the right to eat from the tree of life in the Paradise of God. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will grant to eat from the tree of life, which is in the Paradise of God.’ Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
8 To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of the First and the Last, who died and returned to life. “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: ‘The words of the first and the last, who died and came to life. And unto the angel of the church in Smyrna write; These things saith the first and the last, which was dead, and is alive; “And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write: The first and the last, who was dead, and has come to life, says this: “To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again.
9 I know your affliction and your poverty— though you are rich! And I am aware of the slander of those who falsely claim to be Jews, but are in fact a synagogue of Satan. “‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich) and the slander of those who say that they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and <i>I know</i> the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but <i>are</i> the synagogue of Satan. ‘I know your tribulation and your poverty (but you are rich), and the slander by those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. I know your afflictions and your poverty—yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
10 Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Look, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison to test you, and you will suffer tribulation for ten days. Be faithful even unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, that you may be tested, and for ten days you will have tribulation. Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast <i>some</i> of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. Do not fear what you are about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to throw some of you into prison, so that you will be tested, and you will have tribulation for ten days. Be faithful until death, and I will give you the crown of life. Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution for ten days. Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.
11 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be harmed by the second death. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who conquers will not be hurt by the second death.’ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; He that overcometh shall not be hurt of the second death. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who overcomes will not be hurt by the second death.’ Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death.
12 To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of the One who holds the sharp, double-edged sword. “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: ‘The words of him who has the sharp two-edged sword. And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; These things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges; “And to the angel of the church in Pergamum write: The One who has the sharp two-edged sword says this: “To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.
13 I know where you live, where the throne of Satan sits. Yet you have held fast to My name and have not denied your faith in Me, even in the day when My faithful witness Antipas was killed among you, where Satan dwells. “‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, <i>even</i> where Satan's seat <i>is</i>: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein Antipas <i>was</i> my faithful martyr, who was slain among you, where Satan dwelleth. ‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is; and you hold firmly to My name, and did not deny My faith even in the days of Antipas, My witness, My faithful one, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells. I know where you live—where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me, not even in the days of Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death in your city—where Satan lives.
14 But I have a few things against you, because some of you hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to place a stumbling block before the Israelites so they would eat food sacrificed to idols and commit sexual immorality. But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality. But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumblingblock before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication. But I have a few things against you, because you have <i>some</i> there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit sexual immorality. Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols and committed sexual immorality.
15 In the same way, some of you also hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. So also you have some who hold the teaching of the Nicolaitans. So hast thou also them that hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. So you too, have some who in the same way hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans.
16 Therefore repent! Otherwise I will come to you shortly and wage war against them with the sword of My mouth. Therefore repent. If not, I will come to you soon and war against them with the sword of my mouth. Repent; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth. Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will wage war against them with the sword of My mouth. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.
17 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone inscribed with a new name, known only to the one who receives it. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who conquers I will give some of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, with a new name written on the stone that no one knows except the one who receives it.’ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth <i>it</i>. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who overcomes, I will give <i>some</i> of the hidden manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a new name written on the stone which no one knows except the one who receives <i>it.’</i> Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to the one who receives it.
18 To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like a blazing fire and whose feet are like polished bronze. “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: ‘The words of the Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and whose feet are like burnished bronze. And unto the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet <i>are</i> like fine brass; “And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write: The Son of God, who has eyes like a flame of fire, and feet like burnished bronze, says this: “To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze.
19 I know your deeds— your love, your faith, your service, your perseverance— and your latter deeds are greater than your first. “‘I know your works, your love and faith and service and patient endurance, and that your latter works exceed the first. I know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last <i>to be</i> more than the first. ‘I know your deeds, and your love and faith, and service and perseverance, and that your deeds of late are greater than at first. I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first.
20 But I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads My servants to be sexually immoral and to eat food sacrificed to idols. But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols. Notwithstanding I have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that woman Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce my servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols. But I have <i>this</i> against you, that you tolerate the woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess, and she teaches and leads My bond-servants astray so that they commit sexual immorality and eat things sacrificed to idols. Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
21 Even though I have given her time to repent of her immorality, she is unwilling. I gave her time to repent, but she refuses to repent of her sexual immorality. And I gave her space to repent of her fornication; and she repented not. I gave her time to repent, and she does not want to repent of her sexual immorality. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.
22 Behold, I will cast her onto a bed of sickness, and those who commit adultery with her will suffer great tribulation unless they repent of her deeds. Behold, I will throw her onto a sickbed, and those who commit adultery with her I will throw into great tribulation, unless they repent of her works, Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds. Behold, I will throw her on a bed <i>of sickness,</i> and those who commit adultery with her into great tribulation, unless they repent of her deeds. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.
23 Then I will strike her children dead, and all the churches will know that I am the One who searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. and I will strike her children dead. And all the churches will know that I am he who searches mind and heart, and I will give to each of you according to your works. And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works. And I will kill her children with plague, and all the churches will know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts; and I will give to each one of you according to your deeds. I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
24 But I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned the so-called deep things of Satan: I will place no further burden upon you. But to the rest of you in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not learned what some call the deep things of Satan, to you I say, I do not lay on you any other burden. But unto you I say, and unto the rest in Thyatira, as many as have not this doctrine, and which have not known the depths of Satan, as they speak; I will put upon you none other burden. But I say to you, the rest who are in Thyatira, who do not hold this teaching, who have not known the deep things of Satan, as they call them—I place no other burden on you. Now I say to the rest of you in Thyatira, to you who do not hold to her teaching and have not learned Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not impose any other burden on you,
25 Nevertheless, hold fast to what you have until I come. Only hold fast what you have until I come. But that which ye have <i>already</i> hold fast till I come. Nevertheless what you have, hold firmly until I come. except to hold on to what you have until I come.’
26 And to the one who overcomes and continues in My work until the end, I will give authority over the nations. The one who conquers and who keeps my works until the end, to him I will give authority over the nations, And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: The one who overcomes, and the one who keeps My deeds until the end, I will give him authority over the nations; To the one who is victorious and does my will to the end, I will give authority over the nations—
27 He will rule them with an iron scepter and shatter them like pottery just as I have received authority from My Father. and he will rule them with a rod of iron, as when earthen pots are broken in pieces, even as I myself have received authority from my Father. And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. AND HE SHALL RULE THEM WITH A ROD OF IRON, AS THE VESSELS OF THE POTTER ARE SHATTERED, as I also have received <i>authority</i> from My Father; that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ —just as I have received authority from my Father.
28 And I will give him the morning star. And I will give him the morning star. And I will give him the morning star. and I will give him the morning star. I will also give that one the morning star.
29 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’ Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
