John 7:1-17 ▼

1 And after these things Jesus was walking in Galilee: for He was not willing to walk in Judea, because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.

2 Now the feast of the Jews, the feast of tabernacles, was at hand.

3 His brethren, therefore, said to Him, "Depart hence, and go into Judaea, that Thy disciples also may behold Thy works that Thou doest;

4 for no one does anything in secret, and himself seeks to he known openly. If Thou doest these things, manifest Thyself to the world."

5 For even His brethren did not believe on Him.

6 Jesus, therefore, saith to them, "My time is not yet present; but your time is always ready.

7 The world cannot hate you; but Me it hates, because I testify concerning it, that its works are evil.

8 Go ye up to the feast. I am not yet going up to this feast, because My time has not yet been fulfilled."

9 And, having said these things to them, He abode in Galilee.

10 But, when His brethren went up to the feast, then He also went up, not openly, but as it were in secret.

11 The Jews, therefore, were seeking Him at the feast, and said, "Where is He?"

12 And there was much murmuring about Him among the multitudes: some were saying, "He is a good Man;" others were saying, "Nay, but He is misleading the multitude."

13 No one, however, was speaking openly concerning Him, for fear of the Jews.

14 But, it being now the middle of the feast, Jesus went up into the temple, and was teaching.

15 The Jews, therefore, were marveling, saying, "How knoweth This Man letters, having never learned!"

16 Jesus, therefore, answered them, and said, "My teaching is not Mine, but His Who sent Me.

17 If any one wills to do His will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or whether I speak from Myself.
