1 Sam 10:15 & God's guidance link?
How does 1 Samuel 10:15 connect to God's guidance in our lives?

The verse in focus

“Tell me, please, what Samuel said to you.” (1 Samuel 10:15)

Setting the scene

• Saul and his servant had been searching for lost donkeys (1 Samuel 9:3–4).

• God used that mundane errand to bring Saul face-to-face with Samuel, who anointed him king (1 Samuel 10:1).

• When Saul returned, his uncle’s simple request in 10:15 highlighted a crossroads: What would Saul share about the divine direction he had just received?

What 1 Samuel 10:15 shows about God’s guidance

• God directs through ordinary circumstances

– Lost livestock led to royal calling; everyday details are never random (cf. Psalm 37:23).

• Guidance is often confirmed by reliable, godly voices

– Samuel, a known prophet, authenticated God’s word to Saul (1 Samuel 3:19–20).

• There is a time to speak and a time to withhold

– Saul wisely guarded what was not yet ready for public release (v. 16; cf. Ecclesiastes 3:7).

• God’s leading does not bypass personal responsibility

– Saul still answered his uncle honestly about the donkeys; obedience includes integrity in small matters (Luke 16:10).

• Curious questions can prompt reflection on what God has said

– The uncle’s inquiry gave Saul opportunity to process and own God’s direction.

Principles we can apply today

• Expect God to weave guidance into the routine—jobs, errands, conversations, family interactions.

• Seek and value counsel from proven, Scripture-anchored believers when discerning direction (Proverbs 11:14).

• Guard revelations until God opens the door to share; premature disclosure can hinder His timing (Proverbs 10:19).

• Confirm perceived guidance against the clear teaching of Scripture, trusting its complete reliability (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

• Answer everyday questions with truthfulness; small acts of integrity align the heart for larger assignments.

Living it out

1. Start each day acknowledging God’s sovereignty over the “lost‐donkey moments.”

2. Record unexpected conversations or events that might signal His leading.

3. Invite mature believers to speak into decisions, filtering their counsel through the Bible.

4. Pray for discernment about what to share now and what to hold until later.

5. Celebrate even the smallest confirmations—God delights to affirm His path (Isaiah 30:21).

Supporting Scriptures

Proverbs 3:5-6—“Trust in the LORD with all your heart…and He will make your paths straight.”

Psalm 32:8—“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go...”

Romans 8:14—“For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.”

God’s guidance, illustrated in one uncle’s question, continues unchanged: He leads faithfully, personally, and purposefully through every detail of our lives.

What can we learn from Saul's uncle's inquiry about Samuel's message?
