Apply David's trust to daily life?
How can we apply David's trust in God to our daily challenges?

Facing the Giant in the Text

“But Saul replied, ‘You cannot go out against this Philistine to fight him; you are just a boy, and he has been a warrior from his youth.’” (1 Samuel 17:33)

Saul’s words describe the obstacle. David’s answer (v. 37) shows where his confidence rests: “The LORD who delivered me from the paw of the lion and the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.”

Why David’s Trust Matters for Us

• David measured Goliath against God, not himself.

• He recalled past rescues as evidence of future help.

• He refused to let others’ doubts overwrite God’s promises.

Bringing David’s Trust into Today

• Identify the “Goliaths” you face—pressure at work, illness, strained relationships. Name them honestly.

• Ask, “How big is this compared to God?” (Jeremiah 32:27). Let Scripture resize the challenge.

• Rehearse your personal “lion and bear” stories—moments God has already carried you through. Keep a written list.

• Speak faith aloud when negativity circles. “The LORD is my helper; I will not be afraid” (Hebrews 13:6).

• Act in obedience while trusting results to Him, just as David stepped onto the battlefield with a sling and stones.

Scriptures that Fuel the Same Confidence

• Proverbs 3:5-6—trust fully, lean away from self-understanding.

• Psalm 27:1—“The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?”

• 2 Chronicles 20:15—“The battle is not yours, but God’s.”

• Romans 8:31—“If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Practical Ways to Strengthen Trust

1. Daily Scripture intake—read, memorize, and speak verses tied to God’s faithfulness.

2. Regular testimony sharing—remind family or friends of answered prayers.

3. Worship before worrying—sing or play songs that declare God’s strength.

4. Serve where you feel weak—let God’s power be visible in your insufficiency (2 Corinthians 12:9).

5. Refuse comparison—focus on God’s calling for you, not Saul’s armor for someone else (1 Samuel 17:38-39).

Encouragement for the Week

Whatever giant stands in front of you, mirror David’s perspective: God’s past faithfulness guarantees present help. Step forward, sling in hand, confident that “The LORD of Hosts” (1 Samuel 17:45) still champions His people.
