Apply Ephesians 3:6 in our church?
How can we apply the message of Ephesians 3:6 in our church community?

The Mystery Announced

Ephesians 3:6: “This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are fellow heirs, fellow members of the body, and partners of the promise in Christ Jesus.”

Shared Heirs—Receiving the Same Inheritance

• God’s promise to Abraham now embraces every believer, regardless of background (Galatians 3:28-29).

• Our gatherings should remind everyone that eternal life, the indwelling Spirit, and future glory belong equally to every saint.

• Practical step: testify regularly to God’s faithfulness across cultures and generations so no group feels like second-class citizens.

One Body—Living Out Visible Unity

• Christ “has made both one” and “destroyed the barrier” (Ephesians 2:14-16).

• Unity is not uniformity; differing gifts and cultures enrich the whole (1 Corinthians 12:12-27).

• Practical step: mix ages, ethnicities, and income levels in small groups and ministry teams so the body functions as a single organism.

Partners in the Promise—Sharing Mission and Responsibility

• “There is no distinction between Jew and Greek; the same Lord is Lord of all” (Romans 10:12).

• Because every believer is a full partner, every believer is a full participant in gospel mission (Matthew 28:19-20).

• Practical step: invite all members to lead, teach, serve, and evangelize; avoid reserving key roles for a cultural majority.

Practical Pathways for Our Church

– Greet and learn names outside your usual circle each Sunday.

– Schedule pulpit supply and worship teams that reflect the congregation’s diversity.

– Share meals in homes; table fellowship powerfully dismantles barriers (Acts 10:34-35).

– Support missionaries and church planters who work among peoples unlike our own.

– Celebrate testimonies in multiple languages when possible (Revelation 5:9-10).

Guarding Against Division

• Watch for subtle prejudices—favoritism in leadership selection, “cliques,” or cultural preferences in music and dress (James 2:1-4).

• Address tensions quickly with biblical peacemaking (Matthew 18:15-17; Colossians 3:13).

• Keep Scripture central; the Word, not culture, sets our standards (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Continual Celebration of Grace

• Regularly rehearse Christ’s completed work—He “reconciled us both to God in one body through the cross” (Ephesians 2:16).

• Unite around communion, worship, and the preaching of the gospel, reinforcing that we are already, right now, fellow heirs, fellow members, and fellow partners in every promise God has made in Christ.
