Apply Joshua's trust to daily life?
How can we apply the trust Joshua showed in God to our daily challenges?

Setting the Scene: Joshua 10:13 — Trust that Stops the Sun

“So the sun stood still and the moon stopped until the nation took vengeance upon its enemies… So the sun stopped in the middle of the sky and delayed going down about a full day.” (Joshua 10:13)

Joshua counted on the Lord to intervene with literal, cosmic power. God honored that faith, bending the natural order itself. The same God who held the sun in place still reigns today, unchanged in power or faithfulness.

Stepping Stones for Our Own Battles

• Remember Who fights: the victory in Joshua 10 is credited to the Lord (v. 14).

• Act before evidence appears: Joshua’s prayer came while the battle was still raging.

• Speak faith aloud: Joshua declared his request publicly, reinforcing trust for the whole nation.

• Expect extraordinary means: God is not limited to ordinary resources when accomplishing His will.

• Stand on past promises: Joshua’s courage traces back to God’s charge in Joshua 1:5–9. The same promises remain true for every believer.

Practical Ways to Echo Joshua’s Faith Today

• Begin each challenge by confessing God’s sovereignty instead of rehearsing the odds.

• Pray specifically; name the “sun-stand-still” outcome you need, leaving room for God’s timing and method.

• Obey promptly; Joshua marched all night (10:9) before the miracle came.

• Anchor thoughts in Scripture. Memorize passages such as Isaiah 26:3 or 2 Corinthians 5:7 to steady the mind when circumstances look overwhelming.

• Celebrate partial progress; Israel saw hailstones fall before the sun stopped. Look for early signs of God at work and give thanks.

• Encourage others with testimonies of God’s intervention, just as the written account of Joshua 10 strengthens us today.

Encouragement from Other Passages

Proverbs 3:5-6 — “Trust in the LORD with all your heart… He will make your paths straight.”

Psalm 37:5 — “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.”

Romans 8:31 — “What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?”

Ephesians 3:20 — “Now to Him who is able to do so much more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us,”

Hebrews 11:30 — “By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the people had marched around them for seven days.”

Each verse reaffirms that trusting God is never misplaced, whether stopping the sun, flattening walls, or guiding daily decisions.

Living a “Sun-Still” Life

The God who answered Joshua rules every sunrise we see. Trust Him with bold prayers, courageous obedience, and confident expectation. Then watch Him turn impossible situations into fresh reminders of His glory.
