How can we apply Moses' example of faithfulness in our daily lives? Setting the Scene Moses, newly commissioned by God at the burning bush, reunites with Aaron in Midian. Before setting foot in Egypt, “Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and all the signs He had commanded him to perform” (Exodus 4:28). This short verse reveals a life-changing resolve: Moses receives God’s word, believes it, and immediately passes it on without alteration. What Faithfulness Looked Like for Moses • He listened carefully—taking in “everything the LORD had sent him to say.” • He trusted completely—accepting that God’s plan would unfold just as spoken. • He acted promptly—sharing the message and preparing to demonstrate the signs. • He stayed transparent—holding nothing back from Aaron, his partner in ministry. Hebrews 3:5 underscores this pattern: “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house.” The New Testament confirms what Exodus 4:28 illustrates: a servant who embraces and relays God’s revelation unfiltered. Translating Faithfulness into Daily Life 1. Receive the Word without editing. • Daily reading: take Scripture at face value, resisting the urge to trim hard truths. • Psalm 119:160—“The entirety of Your word is truth.” 2. Believe before you see. • Moses accepted the mission while still in Midian; we trust God’s promises while circumstances remain unchanged. • 2 Corinthians 5:7—“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” 3. Share God’s message accurately. • Speak what God has said, not personal speculation. • 1 Peter 4:11—“If anyone speaks, he should speak as one conveying the words of God.” 4. Act promptly on divine direction. • Delayed obedience is disobedience; Moses went straight to Aaron. • James 1:22—“Be doers of the word, and not hearers only.” 5. Work in godly partnership. • Moses and Aaron serve side-by-side; seek teammates who share biblical convictions. • Ecclesiastes 4:9—“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor.” 6. Be faithful in small steps. • Exodus 4 shows Moses handling conversation and sign-preparation; God later entrusts him with plagues and Red Sea deliverance. • Luke 16:10—“Whoever is faithful with very little will also be faithful with much.” Encouragement for the Journey Faithfulness is not flashy. It is simple, steady obedience to the revealed Word—hearing, believing, speaking, and doing exactly what God has said. Follow Moses’ pattern one decision at a time, and the Lord will use ordinary days to write extraordinary stories. |
