How can we apply the concept of consecration from Exodus 29:20 in our lives? The Scene in Exodus 29:20 “Then you shall slaughter the ram, take some of its blood, and apply it to the right earlobe of Aaron and his sons, to the thumb of their right hand, and to the big toe of their right foot; and sprinkle the remaining blood on the altar all around.” (Exodus 29:20) What the Blood-Touched Ear, Hand, and Foot Signify • Right earlobe — our hearing: set apart to listen attentively to God’s voice (Deuteronomy 6:4-5). • Right thumb — our doing: devoted hands ready for obedient service (Colossians 3:23-24). • Right big toe — our going: directed steps that walk in holiness (Psalm 119:105). Fulfilled and Intensified in Christ • Jesus, the once-for-all sacrifice, purifies us “with His own blood” (Hebrews 9:12). • In Him we are now “a royal priesthood” called to offer ourselves wholly to God (1 Peter 2:5, 9; Romans 12:1). Living Out Consecration Today Consecrate the Ear • Begin each day in Scripture before other voices crowd in. • Weigh every opinion, podcast, or song against God’s Word (Acts 17:11). • Practice quick obedience when the Spirit prompts (James 1:22). Consecrate the Hand • Invite God to direct your schedule and tasks; work becomes worship. • Refuse any action that compromises integrity (Psalm 24:3-4). • Use skills and resources to serve the body of Christ and the needy (Galatians 6:10). Consecrate the Foot • Ask God to guide your decisions, travel, and relationships (Proverbs 3:5-6). • Avoid paths that lead toward temptation (2 Timothy 2:22). • Pursue reconciled, peace-making steps with others (Ephesians 4:1-3). Daily Habits That Keep Us Set Apart – Morning surrender: verbally place your ear, hands, and feet under Christ’s lordship. – Scripture memorization to tune spiritual hearing. – Weekly rest that reminds you He is Lord of your time. – Fellowship and accountability: let fellow believers speak truth into your life (Hebrews 10:24-25). – Regular Communion: remember the blood that consecrates you (1 Corinthians 11:25-26). Encouragement to Stay the Course The same God who sanctified Aaron empowers you today. “He who calls you is faithful, and He will do it.” (1 Thessalonians 5:24). Dedicate ear, hand, and foot to Him, and watch every area of life become holy ground. |
