Applying God's peace today?
How can we apply God's promise of peace in our personal lives today?

The Original Promise—1 Chronicles 17:9

“ ‘And I will establish a place for My people Israel and will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own land and no longer be disturbed; violent men will not oppress them again as they did in the beginning.’ ”

God’s words to David point to physical security for Israel and, by extension, the lasting, comprehensive peace He supplies to all who belong to Him.

Peace Completed in Christ

Ephesians 2:13-14—“He Himself is our peace.”

John 14:27—Jesus bequeaths peace “not as the world gives.”

Colossians 1:19-20—Through the cross, God “made peace” for us.

Because Scripture is true and literal, we receive this same covenant peace—rooted in Christ—today.

Practical Ways to Live in God’s Peace

• Stand on your secure position

– Remember you are “planted” (Psalm 1:3) and cannot be uprooted by circumstances.

• Saturate your mind with truth

Isaiah 26:3: He keeps in “perfect peace” the mind stayed on Him.

– Daily reading, memorization, and meditation crowd out anxious thoughts.

• Replace worry with prayer

Philippians 4:6-7: present every request; peace then “guards” heart and mind.

• Cast, don’t carry

1 Peter 5:7: hurl your cares onto the Lord because He cares for you.

• Pursue reconciliation

Romans 12:18: “if possible…live at peace with everyone.” Forgiveness releases both parties.

• Guard your inputs

Proverbs 4:23: watch over your heart. Limit media and conversations that feed unrest.

• Schedule quiet with God

Mark 6:31: even Jesus said, “Come away…rest a while.” Planned solitude restores calm.

• Rest your body

Psalm 4:8: sleep in safety, trusting the Lord to watch the night shift.

• Stay in fellowship

Hebrews 10:24-25: encouragement from believers reinforces peace when life shakes.

Promises to Recall When Anxiety Rises

Psalm 29:11—“The Lord blesses His people with peace.”

Isaiah 54:10—His covenant of peace “will not be removed.”

John 16:33—“In Me you may have peace.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16—He gives peace “at all times and in every way.”

Revelation 21:4—Ultimate peace when tears, death, and pain vanish.

A Simple Peace Check-In

1. Stop and breathe slowly.

2. Thank God aloud for one specific blessing.

3. Speak one promise (e.g., Philippians 4:7).

4. Surrender the issue causing tension.

5. Move forward, confident His peace is active.

Applying the promise of 1 Chronicles 17:9 means trusting the God who plants us, leaning into Christ who is our peace, and practicing daily habits that keep His promised calm ruling our hearts.
