How can Christians show God's greatness?
How can Christians today reflect God's greatness to those unfamiliar with Him?

Hearing the Great Name—1 Kings 8:42

“for they will hear of Your great name and mighty hand and outstretched arm, and will come and pray toward this house.”

Why Outsiders Were Drawn Then—and Still Are

• God’s name carries a reputation of power, mercy, and faithfulness.

• His “mighty hand and outstretched arm” signal deliverance that no earthly source can match.

• When people see evidence of that same hand at work today, curiosity turns into seeking.

Christians as Living Temples

1 Corinthians 3:16—“Do you not know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

• Because His Spirit resides within, our lives replace Solomon’s stone as the meeting point between God and the nations.

Practical Ways to Broadcast His Greatness

– Shine through good works (Matthew 5:16). Let observable kindness, integrity, and generosity point beyond self.

– Speak His deeds. Share answered prayer, personal rescue stories, and Scripture promises kept (Psalm 145:4–6).

– Love visibly (John 13:35). Unconditional, sacrificial love stands out in a self-focused world.

– Uphold truth without compromise (Philippians 2:15). A pure, steady witness contrasts the shifting morals around us.

– Serve the hurting (Isaiah 58:10). Tangible compassion illustrates His “outstretched arm.”

– Walk in humble dependence (2 Corinthians 4:7). Admitting weakness highlights His power, not ours.

– Live hopeful. Peace under pressure testifies that “the LORD reigns” (Psalm 93:1).

Supporting Verses for Confidence

1 Peter 2:9—Our calling is “to proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness.”

Acts 4:13—Bold, ordinary believers made others “recognize that they had been with Jesus.”

Colossians 3:17—“Whatever you do…do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

Putting It into Motion Today

• Start conversations with how God came through this week.

• Invite outsiders to participate in service projects; let them experience His love in action.

• Keep Scripture visible—in speech, art, digital posts—so His words, not ours, set the agenda.

• Celebrate answered prayer publicly, crediting Him, not coincidence.

• Practice hospitality; a dinner table can mirror the Temple court where nations once gathered.

The Outcome Scripture Promises

When God’s people consistently live this way, 1 Kings 8:43 is fulfilled: “all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You.” A watching world, still unfamiliar with Him, will hear—then see—His greatness through us.
