How can we clear obstacles locally?
In what ways can we "remove the stones" in our communities?

Isaiah 62:10—Foundation for the Study

“Pass through, pass through the gates; prepare the way for the people! Build up, build up the highway; remove the stones; raise a banner for the nations.”

What “Stones” Represent Today

• Barriers that keep neighbors from hearing or embracing the gospel

• Unaddressed practical needs that make daily life harder than it should be

• Cultural or relational prejudices that divide rather than unite

• Systems or habits inside the church that confuse rather than clarify truth

• Personal sins that damage our witness (cf. Romans 14:13; Hebrews 12:13)

Clearing Personal Stones First

• Regular repentance—“Search me, O God, and know my heart” (Psalm 139:23-24)

• Pursuing reconciliation quickly when conflict arises (Matthew 5:23-24)

• Guarding speech—“Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth” (Ephesians 4:29)

• Cultivating humility and teachability (James 4:6)

Practical Community Action Steps

• Identify and relieve local needs—food, housing, job skills (James 2:15-16)

• Offer clear, accessible Bible teaching and remove jargon that confuses newcomers

• Mentor youth; replace hopelessness with purpose through discipleship

• Support single parents, widows, and seniors—“Pure and undefiled religion” (James 1:27)

• Engage civic leaders respectfully to influence policies that uphold righteousness

• Create welcoming spaces in church facilities for community events

• Launch literacy or ESL classes that open doors for gospel conversations

Relational Stone-Removal

• Listen well before speaking (Proverbs 18:13)

• Celebrate diverse gifts within the body (1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

• Confront prejudice directly, leaning on the truth that we are “all one in Christ Jesus” (Galatians 3:28)

• Practice hospitality—share meals, stories, and struggles (Romans 12:13)

Spiritual Stone-Removal

• Regular corporate prayer for awakening and unity (Acts 4:31-32)

• Consistent proclamation of the whole counsel of God (2 Timothy 4:2)

• Training believers to share their faith naturally (1 Peter 3:15)

• Equipping families to disciple at home, not outsourcing spiritual growth

Working Together on the Highway

• Leaders model servant leadership, clearing administrative clutter

• Every member identifies one obstacle they can personally address this month

• Partner with like-minded churches and ministries; unity amplifies impact (John 17:21)

• Celebrate victories—testimonies encourage continued effort (Revelation 12:11)

Resulting Testimony to the Nations

When stones are removed:

• The gospel travels swiftly (Isaiah 52:7)

• Communities see good works and glorify the Father (Matthew 5:16)

• Believers experience joy and unity (Psalm 133:1)

• Christ is lifted high, drawing all people to Himself (John 12:32)
