In what ways can we live out being "made perfect" in our communities? Made Perfect—A Finished Work Hebrews 10:14: “For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are being sanctified.” • Christ’s single sacrifice actually, not figuratively, “perfected” us before God. • That completed status is the solid ground from which every act of community life flows; we never strive for acceptance—we serve from acceptance. Living the Tension: Perfected yet Progressively Sanctified • Position: perfect forever (Hebrews 10:14; Colossians 2:10). • Process: “being sanctified” day by day (1 Thessalonians 4:3). • Community becomes the workshop where the Spirit shapes us to match our position. Practicing Holiness Together 1 Peter 1:15-16; Hebrews 12:14 • Refuse patterns of sin openly and lovingly. • Invite accountability—small groups, honest friendships (Proverbs 27:17). • Celebrate obedience stories so holiness feels normal, not odd. Encouraging Faith and Perseverance • Regular gathering is non-negotiable; absence starves encouragement. • Speak Scripture to one another—read, text, or sing it (Colossians 3:16). • Spot discouragement early and “stir up” hope before hearts cool (Hebrews 3:13). Serving with Christlike Love Galatians 5:13; Philippians 2:3-4 • Identify needs—meals, rides, child care—and meet them without fanfare. • Rotate unseen tasks (setup, cleanup) so nobody hides behind gifting excuses. • Give materially; perfection in Christ frees us from clinging to stuff (2 Corinthians 9:7-8). Offering Forgiveness and Reconciliation • Because we’re already perfected, personal offense can’t destroy identity—so forgive quickly. • Use Matthew 18’s clear steps to restore fellowship; silence breeds division. • Model confession—from leaders down—to make grace the community’s air. Witnessing to the World • Visible love authenticates the gospel message. • Share testimonies of “perfected but still growing” to neighbors; humility attracts hearers. • Corporate service projects display Christ’s finished work in action—light shining together. Depending on the Spirit • Daily yield to the Spirit who applies Christ’s perfection to conduct. • Pray collectively for His fruit before planning activities; power precedes program. • Expect supernatural unity (Ephesians 4:3)—it is the Spirit’s signature on a perfected people. Living “made perfect” in community means resting in Christ’s completed work while actively displaying its reality through holiness, encouragement, service, forgiveness, witness, and Spirit-dependence—until the day our practice fully aligns with the perfection already granted. |
