How can we emulate Andrew's service?
In what ways can we apply Andrew's example of service in our lives?

Andrew Notices the Overlooked

John 6:8 – “One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,”

• Andrew pays attention to the boy no one else saw.

• Applications:

– Slow down enough to notice quiet people on the fringe at church or in the neighborhood.

– Initiate a simple greeting, a handshake, or a seat at the table.

– Link to Acts 9:26-27—Barnabas does the same for Saul; noticing opens doors for ministry.

Offering Whatever Is in Our Hands

John 6:9 records Andrew saying, “There is a boy here who has five barley loaves and two small fish...”

• He doesn’t despise the smallness of the gift.

• Applications:

– Share a modest skill, a spare room, a single hour—God multiplies the smallest seed (Matthew 13:31-32).

– Give even when it feels insignificant; God’s arithmetic turns “five and two” into abundance (2 Corinthians 9:8).

Pointing People Directly to Jesus

• Andrew introduces the boy to Christ, just as he earlier introduced Peter (John 1:41-42).

• Applications:

– In conversations, naturally pivot to what Jesus has done in your life.

– Bring friends to Scripture studies, youth nights, or simply to lunch where Christ is honored.

Serving Without the Spotlight

• Andrew fades from center stage after handing the boy over; no complaint, no self-promotion.

• Applications:

– Volunteer for tasks that rarely draw applause—stacking chairs, updating spreadsheets, praying unseen.

– Remember Mark 9:35: “If anyone desires to be first, he will be last of all and servant of all.”

Choosing Faith Over Calculation

• Andrew voices the logical problem—“but what good are these for so many?”—yet still presents the loaves (John 6:9).

• Applications:

– Step forward even when resources look laughably small.

– Rehearse past divine faithfulness (Psalm 77:11-12) to strengthen present trust.

Practical Steps for the Week

• Identify one “hidden” person in your church or workplace; greet, listen, learn a name.

• Inventory your “five loaves and two fish” by writing down three ordinary abilities God can use.

• Intentionally mention Jesus in one everyday conversation, trusting Him with the outcome.

• Sign up for a behind-the-scenes ministry role you’ve previously ignored.

• Each night, thank God aloud for how He multiplied that day’s small offering (Colossians 3:17).
