How can we offer to our community?
In what ways can we apply the principle of offerings in our community?

Setting the Scene

“On the eleventh day Pagiel son of Ocran, the leader of the Asherites, drew near with his offering.” (Numbers 7:72)

Every tribe, one by one, brought tangible gifts for the service of the tabernacle. Nothing was left incomplete, and every leader stepped forward publicly. Their offerings were:

• Voluntary, not coerced

• Specific, not vague

• Visible, not hidden

• Unified in purpose, yet personally presented

Core Principles from Numbers 7:72

• Leadership models generosity. When the leaders moved first, the people could follow (cf. 1 Chronicles 29:6–9).

• Orderly participation strengthens unity. Each tribe had an assigned day; no one was forgotten.

• Offerings are acts of worship, not mere transactions. The gifts went toward God’s dwelling place.

• Equal opportunity, diverse capacity. Although each tribe brought the same type of offering, their hearts made each presentation unique.

Ways to Translate the Principle Today

• Visible leadership giving: Elders, ministry heads, and parents openly commit time, talent, and treasure.

• Scheduled community drives: Assign families or small groups to specific weeks for food banks, building projects, or mission support.

• Designated purposes: Make giving goal-oriented—equipment for children’s ministry, support for missionaries, care for widows and single parents.

• Celebrate every gift: Publicly thank God for each contribution, large or small, fostering a culture where every participant matters.

Supporting Scriptures

2 Corinthians 9:7 — “Each one should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

Proverbs 3:9 — “Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your harvest.”

Malachi 3:10 — “Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse... Test Me in this,” says the LORD of Hosts, “and see if I will not open the windows of heaven and pour out for you blessing without measure.”

Hebrews 13:16 — “Do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.”

Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be poured into your lap.”

Practical Steps for Our Fellowship

1. Establish a transparent giving calendar inspired by Numbers 7—everyone knows when and how to participate.

2. Launch “Firstfruits Sundays,” encouraging members to set aside the first portion of income each month.

3. Create visible impact reports: photos, testimonies, and updates on how offerings are advancing the gospel locally and globally.

4. Involve children: let them bring canned goods, coins, or handmade cards during the congregational offering time.

5. Offer multiple avenues—online, in-person, skill-based volunteering—so every believer can contribute.

Encouragement for Faithful Giving

The Asherite leader’s simple act in Numbers 7:72 still echoes today: when God’s people step forward, one after another, needs are met, faith is built, and the presence of God is tangibly celebrated among us. Let’s draw near with our offerings, confident that He records every gift and multiplies each one for His glory.
