How can we save lives today?
How can we actively "rescue those being led away to death" today?

Setting the Scene

“Rescue those being led away to death, and restrain those stumbling toward the slaughter.” (Proverbs 24:11)

Seeing the Command Clearly

• This is not a suggestion; it is a divine imperative.

• It applies to every era, including ours.

• The Lord measures our love for Him by our willingness to intervene when lives—physical or eternal—are at stake.

Who Are “Those Being Led Away to Death” Today?

• The spiritually lost, still dead in trespasses and sins (Ephesians 2:1).

• The unborn threatened by abortion (Psalm 139:13-16; Proverbs 31:8-9).

• Victims of human trafficking, violence, and persecution (Isaiah 1:17; Psalm 82:4).

• The suicidal, depressed, addicted, or self-destructive (Galatians 6:1-2).

• The poor and marginalized whose daily survival hangs in the balance (James 2:15-17).

Heart Attitudes That Fuel Rescue

• Compassion that mirrors Christ’s own (Matthew 9:36).

• Courage that overcomes fear of rejection or inconvenience (Joshua 1:9).

• Conviction that every human bears God’s image and eternity is real (Genesis 1:27; Hebrews 9:27).

• Commitment to truth—believing God’s Word never returns void (Isaiah 55:11).

Practical Ways to Step In

Spiritual Rescue

• Share the gospel clearly and urgently (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 4:12).

• Disciple new believers so they don’t drift back toward destruction (Colossians 1:28).

• Intercede faithfully; prayer invades enemy territory (Ephesians 6:18-19).

Physical & Social Rescue

• Volunteer or support crisis-pregnancy centers; offer alternatives to abortion.

• Engage in anti-trafficking ministries—hotlines, safe houses, legal aid.

• Provide meals, shelter, job help, and medical care for the needy (1 John 3:16-18).

• Stand with the persecuted church through advocacy and material aid (Hebrews 13:3).

Personal Intervention

• Notice warning signs of despair; listen and guide toward professional and pastoral help.

• Offer accountability to those battling addiction or destructive habits.

• Use your civic voice—vote, petition, serve—to protect life at every stage.

Remembering Our Motivation

• Christ rescued us “from the domain of darkness” (Colossians 1:13); love compels us to do likewise.

• “Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save his soul from death” (James 5:20).

• Eternity is in view; every act of rescue echoes forever.

Courage When Rescue Feels Costly

• God sees and rewards hidden sacrifices (Matthew 6:4).

• The Spirit empowers what He commands (Acts 1:8).

• Even small steps, taken in faith, push back darkness (Matthew 5:14-16).

Living Expectantly

• Stay alert to daily opportunities; interruptions may be divine appointments.

• Keep Scripture close—truth sharpens discernment and sustains resolve.

• Rejoice: each life saved, each soul won, magnifies the Savior who first rescued us.
