How can you sow or reap in your community?
In what ways can you be a sower or reaper in your community?

Verse at a Glance

“For in this case the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.” (John 4:37)

Understanding Sowing and Reaping

• Scripture presents evangelism like farming—planting seed (the Word) and gathering harvest (new believers).

Mark 4:14: “The sower sows the word.”

1 Corinthians 3:6–7: “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow… neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God who makes things grow.”

• Both roles matter; God assigns tasks and gives the increase.

How to Sow in Your Community

• Casual Gospel Conversations

– Share a verse, personal testimony, or answer spiritual questions at work, school, or the gym.

• Consistent Kindness

– Simple acts—bringing a meal, mowing a neighbor’s lawn—soften soil for the Word (Matthew 5:16).

• Prayerful Intercession

– Pray by name for lost friends; prayer breaks hard ground (1 Timothy 2:1–4).

• Distributing Scripture

– Hand out tracts, Bibles, or share a Bible app link; seed in every pocket.

• Social Media Witness

– Post Scripture, Christian articles, or a personal story; digital seed reaches where your feet cannot.

• Teaching Children & Youth

– Volunteer in Sunday school, VBS, or youth sports; early seeds often sprout lifelong faith (Proverbs 22:6).

• Lifestyle Integrity

– Honesty and purity make the message credible (Philippians 2:15).

How to Reap in Your Community

• Gospel Invitations

– When someone shows interest, invite them to repent and believe (Acts 2:38).

• Baptism Preparation

– Walk new believers through the meaning of baptism, sharing passages like Romans 6:3–4.

• One-on-One Discipleship

– Meet weekly to read Scripture, pray, and apply truth (Matthew 28:19–20).

• Small-Group Leadership

– Host a Bible study where seekers can ask questions and grow together.

• Restoration Ministry

– Help those returning to faith after wandering (Galatians 6:1).

• Celebrating Stories

– Share testimonies publicly; harvested fruit encourages more sowing (Psalm 40:9–10).

Working Together in God’s Field

• Partnership is normal—Jesus said “another reaps.”

• Some plant seeds for years; others step in when hearts are ready.

• Diverse gifts—hospitality, teaching, mercy—blend to move a person from curiosity to commitment (1 Peter 4:10).

• Mutual honor prevents comparison; “each will receive his own reward according to his own labor” (1 Corinthians 3:8).

Encouragement to Keep Going

Galatians 6:9: “Let us not grow weary in well-doing, for in due time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Psalm 126:5–6: “Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy… carrying seed to sow… will return with shouts of joy, bearing sheaves.”

Matthew 9:37: “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.”

• Your faithful sowing or reaping today may be the answer to someone’s eternity tomorrow.
