How can you trust Jesus' promise?
In what ways can you trust Jesus' promise to "never drive away"?

The Promise in His Own Words

“ ‘All those the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never drive away.’ ” (John 6:37)

Why His Promise Is Trustworthy

• The Speaker is God the Son. John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” An all-knowing, all-powerful Savior does not misspeak.

• His character is steadfast. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:8) What He promises in the first century He keeps in the twenty-first.

• The Father and Son act together. John 10:29: “My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all. No one can snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” Unified divine purpose means unbreakable security.

• He has already paid the full price. 1 Peter 2:24 reminds us He “bore our sins in His body on the tree.” A debt fully paid cannot be re-charged later.

• Scripture consistently confirms His keeping power. Romans 8:38-39 lists every conceivable threat and concludes none “will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

What “Never Drive Away” Includes

• No performance clause: acceptance rests on coming to Him, not on flawless living (John 6:37).

• No expiration date: “never” is an eternal word.

• No exception list: “whoever comes” embraces every repentant sinner, regardless of past failures.

• No rival authority: neither Satan nor human opposition can overrule the Sovereign’s invitation (Colossians 2:15).

• No spatial limitation: Psalm 139:7–10 shows His presence reaches everywhere you could go.

Daily Confidence Builders

• Recall His promise during temptation. Hebrews 4:16 says to “approach the throne of grace with confidence.” You are still welcome.

• Confess sin quickly. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.” (1 John 1:9) Forgiveness affirms you remain inside His embrace.

• Rest in His intercession. Hebrews 7:25: “He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.”

• Celebrate communion often. It is a tangible reminder that the body and blood securing your welcome do not change.

• Encourage others. 1 Thessalonians 4:18 urges believers to “encourage one another with these words.” Sharing the promise deepens your own assurance.

Living in the Security of His Welcome

• Worship free from fear—He is not scanning for reasons to expel you.

• Serve boldly—knowing acceptance is settled, you can focus on loving others (Ephesians 2:10).

• Persevere—when trials hit, remember He has already pledged, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5)

• Anticipate eternity—Revelation 3:5 promises your name will never be blotted from the Book of Life.

Hold fast: the Savior who said “never drive away” means exactly that, for now and forever.
