How to act rightly and well daily?
How can we "do what is right and good" in daily life today?

Opening the Text

“Do what is right and good in the sight of the LORD so that it may be well with you, and you may enter and possess the good land that the LORD swore to give your fathers.” (Deuteronomy 6:18)

Understanding “Right and Good”

• “Right” points to actions that conform to God’s revealed standards.

• “Good” refers to what delights His heart and benefits others.

• The command assumes God’s standards are unchanging and authoritative for every generation.

Putting It into Practice Today

1. Align your heart with God’s heart

• Love Him first (Matthew 22:37–38).

• Let His Word shape motives and desires (Psalm 119:11).

2. Translate devotion into action

• “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only” (James 1:22).

• Look for concrete ways to obey each scriptural instruction you read.

3. Remember the promised outcome

• Obedience positions us for God’s favor and fruitfulness, just as Israel’s obedience led to the land.

Practical Habits for Daily Obedience

• Morning surrender: begin each day offering your plans to the Lord.

• Scripture saturation: read, memorize, and meditate so truth is on your tongue during decisions.

• Integrity checks: before speaking or acting, ask, “Will this please the Lord?”

• Generous eye: look for daily opportunities to serve, give, and encourage (Hebrews 13:16).

• Guarded speech: “Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up” (Ephesians 4:29).

• Accountability: invite trusted believers to speak into your life (Proverbs 27:17).

• Spirit-led living: “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).

Encouragement from Other Scriptures

Micah 6:8—“He has shown you, O man, what is good…”

Proverbs 11:3—“The integrity of the upright guides them…”

Colossians 3:23—“Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men.”

Philippians 2:15—live “blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and perverse generation.”

Living the Promise

Consistent obedience turns ordinary routines into worship and opens the door for God’s tangible blessings. Keep choosing what is “right and good,” and you will experience the well-being and spiritual inheritance He delights to give.
