How to aid others in spiritual change?
How can we support others experiencing spiritual transformation like Saul's companions?

Stand in Awe Without Interference

Acts 9:7: “The men traveling with Saul stood speechless. They heard the voice but did not see anyone.”

- Quiet presence allows the Lord’s voice to remain central.

- Resist the urge to explain or control what God is doing.

- Romans 12:15 — “Rejoice with those who rejoice; weep with those who weep.” Enter their moment, not ours.

Offer Tangible Help in the Moment

Acts 9:8: “Saul got up from the ground, but when he opened his eyes he could see nothing. So they led him by the hand into Damascus.”

- Lend a steady hand, provide meals, drive to appointments, protect margin for rest.

- Proverbs 17:17 — “A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” Love looks practical.

Escort Them into Community

Acts 9:17 shows Ananias entering the house, calling him “Brother Saul” and laying hands on him.

- Introduce mature believers who can affirm God’s call.

- Share testimonies to build faith (Revelation 12:11 principle).

- Galatians 6:2 — “Carry one another’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

Speak Life-Giving Truth

Ephesians 4:29: “Let no unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building up the one in need and bringing grace to those who listen.”

- Replace labels from the past with God’s promises.

- Remind them of their new identity rather than rehearsing old failures.

- 2 Corinthians 5:17 — “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!”

Intercede Faithfully

James 5:16: “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and very effective.”

- Pray for clarity, protection, boldness, and filling of the Spirit.

- 1 Thessalonians 5:14 — “…encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, and be patient with everyone.” Prayer fuels patience.

Celebrate the Ongoing Work

- Share milestones: first public testimony, baptism, answered prayers.

- Cheer when old patterns fall away and new fruit appears (John 15:8).

- Keep pointing forward: Philippians 1:6 — “…He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”

How does Acts 9:7 connect to other biblical encounters with God's voice?
