How to be spiritually ready for God?
How can we ensure we are spiritually "clothed" for God's kingdom?

The King’s Invitation and the Garment Test

Matthew 22:11-12: “But when the king came in to see the guests, he spotted a man who was not dressed in wedding clothes. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ And the man was speechless.”

• God’s kingdom banquet is real and imminent.

• Entrance is granted by grace, yet the King still inspects for proper clothing—spiritual attire provided through Christ.

Receive the Garment of Salvation

Isaiah 61:10: “He has clothed me with garments of salvation and wrapped me in a robe of righteousness.”

• Salvation is not stitched by human effort; it is received by faith (Ephesians 2:8-9).

• Accept Christ’s finished work; this is the foundational robe every disciple must wear (Titus 3:5-7).

Put On Christ Himself

Galatians 3:27: “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.”

• Daily identity flows from being “in Christ,” not in achievements or reputations.

Romans 13:14: “Instead, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the desires of the flesh.”

Dress in Righteous Deeds

Revelation 19:7-8: “Fine linen... represents the righteous acts of the saints.”

• Genuine faith expresses itself in obedient living (James 2:17).

• Serve, give, forgive—each act is a stitch in the linen that honors the Bridegroom.

Layer On the New Self

Colossians 3:12-14 lists the wardrobe:

– Compassion

– Kindness

– Humility

– Gentleness

– Patience

Above all: love, “the bond of perfect unity.”

• Intentionally choose these virtues like garments each morning.

Secure the Armor of God

Ephesians 6:11-17:

– Belt of truth

– Breastplate of righteousness

– Shoes of readiness with the gospel of peace

– Shield of faith

– Helmet of salvation

– Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)

• This armor protects and identifies kingdom citizens on the battlefield until the banquet begins.

Keep Your Clothes Clean

Revelation 3:4-5: “They will walk with Me in white, for they are worthy.”

• Confess sin promptly (1 John 1:9).

• Guard against spots of compromise; holiness keeps garments bright.

Stay Watchful and Ready

Luke 12:35: “Be dressed for service and keep your lamps burning.”

• Ongoing readiness shows genuine faith, expecting the Master’s return at any moment (Revelation 16:15).

Practical Daily Checklist

□ Acknowledge Christ’s righteousness as your only merit.

□ Read Scripture and pray, letting truth fasten every piece.

□ Choose love and humility in each interaction.

□ Engage in good works prepared for you today (Ephesians 2:10).

□ Stand alert against temptation, relying on the Spirit’s power.

Clothed in salvation, wrapped in righteousness, armored for battle, and adorned with love, we can step confidently into God’s kingdom—ready for the King’s eternal celebration.
