How to claim God's promises daily?
How can we "go in and possess" God's promises in our daily lives?

Setting the Scene

“See, I have placed the land before you. Go in and possess the land that the LORD swore to give your fathers—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—and their descendants after them.” (Deuteronomy 1:8)

The command is clear and still rings true: God sets His promises in front of us; our responsibility is to walk in and take hold of them.

What “Possess” Means for Us Today

• Not earning, but occupying what Christ already secured (2 Corinthians 1:20).

• Moving truth from the page to personal experience—faith expressed in daily choices.

• Treating every God-given promise as deeded territory that can be lived in now.

Steps for Going In and Possessing God’s Promises Each Day

1. Believe the Title Deed

– “His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness.” (2 Peter 1:3-4)

– Settle it: the promise really is yours.

2. Soak in the Word

Joshua 1:8: “This Book of the Law must not depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night…”

– Read, memorize, speak the promise until it reshapes thinking.

3. Step Out in Obedience

James 1:22: “Be doers of the word, and not hearers only…”

– Act as though the promise is true; obedience is the foot that treads on new ground.

4. Rely on the Spirit’s Power

Galatians 5:16: “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

– Ask Him to energize each step; self-effort never conquers spiritual territory.

5. Stand Firm Against Opposition

Ephesians 6:13: “Take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground…”

– Expect resistance, but resist back with Scripture and steadfast faith.

6. Celebrate Progress

Psalm 92:4: “For You have made me rejoice, O LORD, by Your deeds…”

– Thanksgiving cements gains and fuels future advance.

Areas Where God Invites Us to Possess

• Freedom from habitual sin (Romans 6:14).

• Peace that overrules anxiety (Philippians 4:6-7).

• Wisdom for decisions (James 1:5).

• Joy that circumstances can’t drain (John 15:11).

• Provision for every need (Philippians 4:19).

• Bold witness to others (Acts 1:8).

Scriptures to Keep on Your Lips

Joshua 1:3 “I have given you every place where the sole of your foot will tread.”

2 Corinthians 1:20 “For all the promises of God are ‘Yes’ in Christ.”

Hebrews 4:1 “Now, since the promise of entering His rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you should seem to have failed to reach it.”

Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it.”

Putting It Into Practice

Morning: Read one promise aloud; thank God it is already yours.

Midday: Consciously obey in one small, specific action.

Evening: Record how God proved faithful; praise Him for occupied territory.

The land lies before you. Take the next step, and keep walking until every promise becomes lived reality.
