How to consecrate daily life?
How can we apply the concept of consecration in our daily lives?

Setting the Scene

“ He also poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron’s head and anointed him to consecrate him.” (Leviticus 8:12)

Consecration: What It Is

• To consecrate is to set apart exclusively for God’s purposes.

• In Leviticus, oil on Aaron’s head marked him as wholly God’s.

• Today, consecration still means marking every part of life as belonging to the Lord.

The Pattern Established in the Tabernacle

• God chose the ordinary—olive oil—and made it a sign of the extraordinary.

• Aaron’s anointing teaches three essentials:

– Ownership: Aaron no longer served himself but the Lord.

– Visibility: Oil on the head could be seen and smelled; consecration is public.

– Continuity: The priest’s daily task was to keep living what the oil declared.

New-Covenant Echoes

Romans 12:1: “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God.”

1 Peter 2:9: “a royal priesthood … that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20: “you are not your own; you were bought at a price.”

• The same God who set Aaron apart now calls every believer to priestly living.

Consecration in the Everyday

1. Morning Surrender

• Start the day acknowledging God’s ownership: “Lord, this body, mind, time are Yours.”

2. Purposeful Purity

• Guard the gates—eyes, ears, mouth—because priests treasure holiness (2 Corinthians 7:1).

3. Dedicated Work

• View the job site, classroom, or kitchen as a sanctuary where God is served.

4. Intentional Relationships

• Speak and act so that others sense the “fragrance” of Christ—like Aaron’s oil (2 Corinthians 2:15).

5. Stewardship of Resources

• Spend, save, and give as one set apart; money is ministry fuel, not personal possession.

6. Rest and Recreation

• Choose entertainment that honors the One who anointed you; even leisure is holy ground.

Maintaining the Flame

• Regular Scripture intake keeps the mind renewed (Psalm 119:105).

• Confession restores fellowship quickly when sin threatens purity (1 John 1:9).

• Fellowship with other believers sharpens dedication (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Empowered by the Spirit

• The physical oil pointed to the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 5:18: “be filled with the Spirit” is an ongoing command—fresh anointing for daily faithfulness.

• Trust the Spirit to transform consecration from duty into delight.

Living the Difference

Consecration is not a one-time ceremony; it is a lifestyle. As Aaron wore the oil, we carry the Spirit’s presence into every corner of ordinary life, turning the mundane into ministry and proving that we are, indeed, His set-apart people.

Why is Aaron's anointing important for understanding priestly duties in Leviticus 8:12?
