In what ways can we apply the concept of consecration in our daily lives? A Snapshot of Consecration in Leviticus 8:30 “Then Moses took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments, as well as on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated Aaron and his garments, and his sons and their garments.” What We See in the Verse • Blood on the priest: sin dealt with, guilt removed (Hebrews 9:22) • Oil on the priest: Spirit-empowered service (1 Samuel 16:13) • Garments set apart: visible testimony of inward reality (Revelation 19:8) Living Out Consecration Today 1. Offer the whole self to God • Romans 12:1—present your body as a living sacrifice, “holy and pleasing to God.” • Begin each day verbally yielding mind, emotions, schedule, and relationships. 2. Keep the “blood” central • 1 John 1:7—“the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.” • Confess quickly; refuse to carry unrepented sin into the next hour. 3. Walk in the “oil” of the Spirit • Ephesians 5:18—“be filled with the Spirit.” • Pause before decisions, inviting the Spirit’s guidance; obey His promptings promptly. 4. Guard your “garments” (public witness) • Colossians 3:12—“clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness…” • Choose media, speech, and conduct that reflect Christ; remove anything that stains the testimony. 5. Consecrate your work • Colossians 3:23—do everything “for the Lord.” • Dedicate projects to God; pursue excellence as an act of worship. 6. Consecrate your home • Deuteronomy 6:6–7—write His words “on your heart…teach them diligently.” • Establish Scripture reading, Christ-centered conversations, and hospitality that points to the gospel. 7. Consecrate your resources • Proverbs 3:9—“Honor the LORD with your wealth.” • Tithe first, budget prayerfully, and keep possessions available for kingdom use. 8. Consecrate your relationships • 2 Corinthians 6:14—pursue partnerships that honor God. • Forgive readily (Ephesians 4:32); seek friendships that sharpen faith (Proverbs 27:17). Maintaining a Life Set Apart • Regular self-examination: Psalm 139:23-24 • Frequent remembrance of the cross: 1 Corinthians 11:26 • Continual filling with the Spirit through the Word: Colossians 3:16 The Result A life sprinkled by the blood, saturated with the Spirit, and clothed in righteousness becomes a living picture of consecration—daily evidence that God still sets people apart for His glory and service. |
