How to counteract conspiracies against us?
What strategies can we use to counteract those who "conspire against" God's people?

Setting the Scene

“With cunning they scheme against Your people and conspire against those You cherish.” (Psalm 83:3)

Strategy 1: Go to God First

• “O God, do not keep silent; do not hold Your peace; do not be still, O God.” (Psalm 83:1)

• When opposition rises, our first move is upward, not outward.

• Prayer acknowledges His sovereignty and invites His immediate involvement.

Strategy 2: Appeal to God’s Covenant Faithfulness

• “They say, ‘Come, let us erase them as a nation; may the name of Israel be remembered no more.’” (Psalm 83:4)

• Enemies target God’s promises; we remind God (and ourselves) of those very promises.

• Cross-reference: Exodus 2:24—God “remembered His covenant.” He still does.

Strategy 3: Remember Past Victories

• “Do to them as You did to Midian, as to Sisera and Jabin at the River Kishon.” (Psalm 83:9)

• Rehearsing history fuels present faith.

Judges 4–7: God toppled overwhelming forces; He has not changed.

Strategy 4: Ask for God-Magnifying Outcomes

• “Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek Your name, O LORD… so that they may know that You, whose name is the LORD, alone are the Most High over all the earth.” (Psalm 83:16, 18)

• The goal is God’s glory and the repentance of opponents, not personal revenge.

Strategy 5: Stand in Spiritual Armor

Ephesians 6:10–18—belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, etc.

• Earthly conspiracies are driven by spiritual forces; only spiritual weapons prevail.

Strategy 6: Respond with Holy Conduct

Romans 12:19–21—“Do not avenge yourselves… overcome evil with good.”

• Our integrity under fire nullifies slander and highlights the gospel’s power.

Strategy 7: Seek Unified, Spirit-Empowered Boldness

Acts 4:24, 31—believers “raised their voices together to God,” were “all filled with the Holy Spirit,” and “spoke the word of God boldly.”

• Isolation weakens; corporate prayer and mutual encouragement fortify.

Strategy 8: Rest in God’s Ultimate Justice

Psalm 37:12–13—“The wicked scheme against the righteous… but the Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.”

• Confidence in final judgment frees us from fear and retaliation today.

These biblically grounded steps equip us to meet any conspiracy with steadfast faith, godly action, and unwavering hope.

How can we recognize when others 'plot cunningly' against us as believers today?
