How to find God in tough times?
In what ways can you seek God's presence during challenging times?

Rest in His Promise

“And the LORD answered, ‘My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.’” (Exodus 33:14)

Moses had just pleaded, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here” (v. 15). God answered with a pledge that still steadies us: His personal, constant presence and His supernatural rest are inseparable gifts.

Why God’s Presence Matters in Hard Seasons

• It calms fear: “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for You are with me” (Psalm 23:4).

• It supplies strength: “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1).

• It brings confidence: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous… for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Practical Pathways to Seek Him Today

1. Return to His Word daily

• Scripture is the clearest avenue for sensing His nearness.

• Meditate slowly on promises like Isaiah 41:10 and Hebrews 13:5, letting them speak directly to your situation.

2. Verbalize your dependence through worship

• Sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs (Ephesians 5:19).

• Worship reminds the heart of who God is, shifting eyes from the storm to the Savior.

3. Pray with honest transparency

• Pour out every worry; then wait quietly for His assurance (Psalm 62:8).

• “Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

4. Practice stillness and rest

• Set apart moments of silence where you simply acknowledge His presence (Psalm 46:10).

• Rest is not idleness; it is trusting He fights for you (Exodus 14:14).

5. Engage in obedient service

• Step forward in the next clear act of faith—serving, forgiving, giving, encouraging.

• As you obey, you experience the promise, “Surely I am with you always” (Matthew 28:20).

6. Fellowship with believers

• God often manifests His presence through His people (Matthew 18:20).

• Share burdens, sing together, take the Lord’s Supper—each builds tangible awareness of Emmanuel.

Scripture Echoes That Deepen the Lesson

Matthew 11:28—“Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

John 14:16—Jesus promises another Advocate, the Holy Spirit, “to be with you forever.”

Philippians 4:6-7—Prayer plus thanksgiving leads to “the peace of God… guarding your hearts.”

A Closing Encouragement

Challenging times do not cancel the pledge God voiced to Moses. His presence goes with you; His rest accompanies that presence. Seek Him through His Word, worship, prayer, stillness, obedience, and fellowship, and discover the unshakable calm that only the living God can give.
