How to focus on God's work in life?
What steps can you take to focus on "God's work" in your life?

The Call to Focus on God’s Work

“…or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies, which promote speculation rather than the stewardship of God’s work, which is by faith.” (1 Timothy 1:4)

Identify and Remove Distractions

• Evaluate conversations, media, and pursuits—do they fuel speculation or strengthen faith?

• Step away from controversies that produce no obedience (Titus 3:9).

• Set limits on social media, entertainment, and even well-meaning debates that drain time better spent serving.

Cultivate Faith-Fueled Stewardship

• “We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works” (Ephesians 2:10).

• Approach every task—as employee, student, parent, or volunteer—as managing what God owns.

• Keep short accounts with God; confess quickly so nothing blocks usefulness (2 Timothy 2:21).

Anchor Yourself in Sound Doctrine

• Paul charged Timothy to guard against false teaching (1 Timothy 1:3).

• Reserve daily time for Scripture reading and memorization (Psalm 119:105).

• Compare every sermon or article with the Bible itself (Acts 17:11).

Live Out Love as Evidence of Focus

• “The goal of our instruction is love from a pure heart, a clear conscience, and a sincere faith.” (1 Timothy 1:5)

• Before speaking or acting, ask:

– Is my heart pure?

– Is my conscience clear?

– Is my faith genuine?

• Serve someone quietly each day; love turns study into action.

Maintain a Heavenward Perspective

• “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” (Colossians 3:2)

• Fix your eyes on Jesus, “the pioneer and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

• Regularly rehearse the hope of Christ’s return; eternity reshapes priorities.

Practical Daily Practices

• Begin each morning surrendering plans to the Lord (Proverbs 16:3).

• Carry a verse card and review it during breaks.

• Replace idle talk with words that “give grace to the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).

• Schedule weekly service—hospital visits, mentoring, church cleaning—to make stewardship concrete.

• End the day reviewing God’s fingerprints and noting areas for growth (Lamentations 3:40).
