How to glorify Jesus in actions?
How can believers ensure their actions glorify Jesus as in John 16:14?

Setting the Scene of John 16:14

“ ‘He will glorify Me by taking from what is Mine and disclosing it to you.’ ” (John 16:14)

Jesus is speaking about the Holy Spirit. The Spirit’s core assignment is to magnify the Son by revealing who He is and what He has done. If that is how the Spirit works, then those who walk in the Spirit will do the same.

What It Means to Glorify Jesus

• To glorify is to showcase, spotlight, or put on display the excellence of Christ.

• It is not adding something to Him—He is already glorious—but declaring His worth so others see it.

• Everything from routine chores to public ministry can serve as a stage for His fame (1 Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:17).

The Spirit’s Pattern, Our Pattern

1. Receiving revelation – The Spirit “discloses” Jesus’ words, works, and character.

2. Reflecting revelation – The believer then mirrors what the Spirit shows.

3. Resulting admiration – Observers are drawn to honor Christ, not the believer.

When our lifestyle traces those same steps, we move in sync with the Spirit and naturally glorify Jesus.

Practical Ways to Reflect Christ’s Glory

• Stay Word-Saturated

– The Spirit uses Scripture to reveal Christ (John 5:39).

– Daily intake equips thought, speech, and action with Christ-centered truth.

• Obey Promptly

– “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

– Quick, cheerful obedience shows Jesus is worthy of trust and allegiance.

• Cultivate the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)

– Love, joy, peace, and the rest are the visible aroma of Christ in us.

– Where the fruit ripens, Christ’s glory is tasted by others.

• Serve Selflessly

– “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.” (Matthew 20:28)

– Acts of humble service transfer attention from self to the Servant-King.

• Speak of Him Naturally

– “We cannot stop speaking about what we have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20)

– Conversational witness normalizes Jesus as the centerpiece of life.

• Endure Trials with Hope

– Hard seasons handled with faith make Christ’s sufficiency visible (2 Corinthians 4:7-10).

Guardrails That Keep Us Centered on Christ

• Regular heart checks: “Am I seeking applause for me or for Jesus?”

• Accountability partners who lovingly redirect any drift toward self-promotion.

• Persistent prayer for fresh filling of the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18), because self-effort never produces lasting glory for Christ.

Encouragement for Daily Living

Every ordinary moment is an opportunity for extraordinary glory. As the Spirit keeps unveiling Jesus to you, simply pass along what you’re seeing—through words, attitudes, and deeds. The same Spirit who glorifies the Son within the Trinity will gladly do it again through you, today.
