How to invite the Holy Spirit's presence?
In what ways can we invite the Holy Spirit's presence into our lives?

The Breath That Brings Life

“I will put My Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.” (Ezekiel 37:14)

Seeing the Promise in Ezekiel’s Valley

• Israel’s dry bones pictured absolute helplessness—yet God’s Spirit turned death to life.

• The same Spirit now breathes life into everyone who trusts Christ (Romans 8:11).

• The invitation is clear: God desires to put His Spirit within us so that we truly live.

Welcoming the Spirit: Foundational Truths

• The Spirit is a Person, not a force (John 14:16-17).

• He already indwells every believer at conversion (1 Corinthians 3:16).

• Being “filled” (Ephesians 5:18) speaks of yielded, ongoing control—fresh breath for each day.

Step One – Believe and Receive

• Accept the promise: “Whoever believes in Me… streams of living water will flow from within him.” (John 7:38-39)

• Faith opens the door; unbelief keeps the valley dry.

Step Two – Repent and Be Cleansed

• “Repent… and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

• Sin grieves the Spirit (Ephesians 4:30). Turn from anything He exposes.

Step Three – Yield in Obedience

• Ezekiel obeyed God’s command to prophesy, and wind came. Obedience invites fresh breath.

• Practical obedience: forgiving, serving, speaking truth, honoring God’s boundaries.

Step Four – Saturate Your Heart with Scripture

• The Spirit authored the Word (2 Peter 1:21) and loves to animate it within us.

• Regular meditation supplies “living and active” power (Hebrews 4:12).

Step Five – Persistent Asking

• “How much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13)

• Keep asking; God delights to answer.

Step Six – Continuous Worship and Thanksgiving

• God is “enthroned on the praises of Israel.” (Psalm 22:3)

• Worship aligns our hearts; thanksgiving clears space for His presence.

Step Seven – Walk in Holiness

• “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” (Galatians 5:16)

• Pursue purity in thought, speech, relationships, entertainment, finances.

Step Eight – Guard the Flame

• “Do not extinguish the Spirit.” (1 Thessalonians 5:19)

• Quickly confess sin, shun cynicism, resist habitual compromise.

• “Fan into flame the gift of God.” (2 Timothy 1:6)

Step Nine – Embrace Fellowship and Unity

• The Spirit binds believers together (Ephesians 4:3).

• Invest in a local church, exercise spiritual gifts, bear one another’s burdens.

Step Ten – Serve on Mission

• In the valley, the revived army rose to serve God’s purpose.

• The Spirit empowers witness (Acts 1:8); as we share Christ, His presence deepens.

A Living, Breathing People

Inviting the Spirit is not a single event but a lifestyle—believing, repenting, yielding, worshiping, and stepping out in obedient faith. As we do, the promise of Ezekiel 37:14 becomes our daily reality: dry bones live, hearts awaken, and God’s people stand as a Spirit-filled testimony to His glory.
