How to recall God's past deliverances?
What steps can we take to remember God's past deliverances in our lives?

Setting the Scene—Joshua 24:7

“He put darkness between you and the Egyptians and brought the sea upon them…”. Israel’s rescue from Egypt becomes Joshua’s vivid reminder that God saves powerfully and personally. Our task is to keep such acts fresh in mind.

Why Remembering Matters

• Guards us from drifting into fear or self-reliance (Deuteronomy 6:12).

• Fuels thanksgiving and worship (Psalm 103:2).

• Strengthens faith for present trials (2 Corinthians 1:10).

Practical Steps to Keep God’s Deliverances Alive

• Write it down—maintain a journal of answered prayers and turning-point moments.

• Tell the story—share testimonies at the table, in small groups, with children (Psalm 78:4).

• Mark the calendar—celebrate anniversaries of God’s interventions; Israel did this with Passover.

• Build visible reminders—an “Ebenezer” stone, framed verse, or photo that prompts praise (1 Samuel 7:12).

• Sing it—create or adopt songs that rehearse what God has done (Exodus 15:1).

• Revisit Scripture parallels—read passages that mirror your experience; let the written record refresh your own memory.

• Engage the senses—light a candle, bake a special loaf, or visit the location where God met you, linking memory to tangible cues.

Linking Other Scriptures

Isaiah 46:9 — “Remember the former things of old; I am God…”

Revelation 12:11 — overcoming “by the word of their testimony.”

Psalm 77:11 — “I will remember the works of the LORD.”

Living It Out Today

Choose one recent deliverance and:

1. Record the details while they are vivid.

2. Share the story with someone this week.

3. Place a physical token where you’ll see it daily.

4. Thank God anew each time the memory surfaces.

God’s past victories are meant to fuel present trust. Keep retelling them, and faith will stay alive.

How can we apply the lesson of divine intervention in our daily lives?
