What steps can we take to remove spiritual veils in our lives? Moses’ Veil and Our Hidden Glory “ When Moses had finished speaking with them, he put a veil over his face.” (Exodus 34:33) The veil kept Israel from seeing the fading splendor of Moses’ encounter with God. Today, unseen veils—sin, unbelief, pride, distractions—can dim the Lord’s light in us. Scripture shows practical ways to pull those barriers down. Turn to the Lord—The Foundational Step • “But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.” (2 Corinthians 3:16) • Repentance is more than regret; it is a decisive pivot toward Christ. • Action point: Acknowledge areas where you have turned aside, and deliberately realign your heart and schedule to place Him first. Embrace the Spirit’s Liberty • “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” (2 Corinthians 3:17) • Invite the Spirit to search and break inner chains—fear, bitterness, legalism. • Action point: Begin each day by yielding control to the Spirit, asking Him to rule your thoughts, words, and reactions. Fix Your Eyes on Christ’s Glory • “We…with unveiled faces all reflect the glory of the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 3:18) • We become what we behold. Gazing on Jesus in Scripture, worship, and quiet meditation steadily transforms us. • Action point: Set aside focused time to contemplate a Gospel scene, letting the Spirit turn information into adoration. Walk in Obedience • “Whoever has My commandments and keeps them… I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” (John 14:21) • Obedience clears the fog. Defiance thickens it. • Action point: Identify one command you know but have delayed obeying; act on it today. Abide in the Word • “If you continue in My word… you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32) • Continuous exposure to Scripture dismantles lies that shroud our minds. • Action point: Adopt a Bible-reading plan that takes you through both Testaments, and journal what God highlights. Confess and Forsake Sin • “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive.” (1 John 1:9) • Hidden sin is a curtain between us and God’s light. • Action point: Regularly practice Psalm 32:5 by naming sins specifically, receiving forgiveness, and making restitution where needed. Live Transparently in Community • “Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.” (James 5:16) • Isolation breeds veils; honest fellowship tears them. • Action point: Join or form a small group committed to mutual encouragement and accountability (Ephesians 4:25). Practice Worship and Communion • “For God…made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Jesus Christ.” (2 Corinthians 4:6) • The Lord’s Table, songs of praise, and thanksgiving refocus us on Christ’s face, not our failures. • Action point: Cultivate a habit of spontaneous praise whenever you sense spiritual dullness. Pray for Enlightenment • “I keep asking…that the eyes of your hearts may be enlightened.” (Ephesians 1:17-18) • Spiritual sight is a gift we must keep requesting. • Action point: Before studying the Bible, ask specifically for the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. Maintain a Soft Heart Daily • “Encourage one another daily…so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (Hebrews 3:13) • Encouragement softens; neglect calcifies. • Action point: Speak life-giving words to at least one believer each day to guard both their heart and yours. Living Unveiled Apply these steps habitually, not sporadically. As you do, the Spirit will keep drawing the curtain back, and you will increasingly reflect the unfading brilliance of Christ to a veiled world. |
