How to seek God's favor daily?
In what ways can we seek God's favor in our daily challenges?

Setting the Scene

Esther’s story reaches a pivotal moment when she stands before King Ahasuerus uninvited. Humanly speaking, doing so could cost her life. Yet the king responds:

“ ‘What is it, Queen Esther?’ the king inquired. ‘What is your request? Even up to half the kingdom, it will be given to you.’ ” (Esther 5:3)

His unexpected generosity illustrates divine favor at work. Esther has already fasted, prayed, and entrusted herself to God (Esther 4:16), and now the earthly king’s heart mirrors the heavenly King’s heart toward His people.

What Favor Looks Like

• An open door when none seemed possible

• A gracious response that exceeds expectation

• The removal of fear and the granting of boldness

• Provision that advances God’s larger purposes

Pursuing God’s Favor in Our Daily Challenges

1. Approach the true King with reverence and confidence.

Hebrews 4:16 — “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence…”

• Esther risked everything to stand before Ahasuerus; we have a blood-bought right to come before God’s throne.

2. Humble your heart.

James 4:6 — “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

• Esther’s fasting showed dependence, not self-reliance.

3. Align your request with God’s redemptive plan.

1 John 5:14 — “If we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.”

• Esther sought protection for God’s covenant people, not personal luxury.

4. Persevere in prayer and (when the Spirit leads) fasting.

Matthew 6:17-18 — fasting done unto the Father is rewarded by the Father.

• Fasting sharpens focus and signals earnestness.

5. Walk in obedience before you ask.

Psalm 84:11 — “No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.”

• Esther obeyed Mordecai’s counsel and God’s timing, even when it meant waiting.

6. Cultivate faith-filled courage.

Joshua 1:9 — “Be strong and courageous… for the LORD your God is with you.”

• Esther entered the throne room saying, “If I perish, I perish” (Esther 4:16). Favor often meets us in moments of risk.

Cross-Reference Highlights

Psalm 5:12 — “Surely You bless the righteous; You surround them with favor as with a shield.”

Proverbs 3:3-4 — “Bind kindness and truth around your neck… Then you will find favor and high regard in the sight of God and man.”

Genesis 39:21 — “The LORD was with Joseph and extended kindness to him, granting him favor…”

Living It Out Today

• Begin each morning acknowledging God’s sovereignty and asking Him to position you where His purposes can shine.

• Examine motives: is the request meant to glorify Him or merely to ease discomfort?

• Pair bold petitions with obedient action; step through the doors He opens.

• Keep gratitude at the forefront—recognizing favor fuels worship and deepens trust for tomorrow’s challenges.
