How to seek clarity like disciples?
How can we apply the disciples' example of seeking clarity in our lives?

The Snapshot: Matthew 13:36

“Then Jesus dismissed the crowds and went into the house. His disciples came to Him and said, ‘Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.’”

What the Disciples Modeled

- Moved from the crowd into the house—created a quiet space with Jesus

- Spoke directly to the Lord—trusted Him as the final authority

- Asked for explanation—valued clear, accurate understanding

- Waited for His answer—expected illumination, not mere opinion

Principles for Our Walk Today

- Seek private time with the Lord daily; close the door on distractions

- Approach Scripture expecting it to be true and understandable

- Ask specifically for insight rather than settling for vague impressions

- Welcome correction and deeper teaching whenever clarity comes

- Depend on Christ, not solely commentaries or cultural voices, for final meaning

Scripture Echoes

- James 1:5 — “Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.”

- Psalm 119:18 — “Open my eyes that I may see wondrous things from Your law.”

- Proverbs 2:2–6 — “…inclining your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding…For the LORD gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding.”

- Luke 24:45 — “Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.”

- Acts 17:11 — “They received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.”

Putting It Into Practice

1. Schedule a brief “house moment” each day—step away from noise and open the Bible.

2. Read a challenging passage aloud, then ask, “Lord, explain this to me,” echoing the disciples’ words.

3. Compare Scripture with Scripture; let clear passages shed light on the difficult one.

4. Record the insight He provides; obedience follows understanding.

5. Revisit the passage later in the week to confirm, refine, and apply what He has shown.
