How to use inheritance spiritually?
How can we apply the concept of "inheritance" in our spiritual lives today?

The Biblical Idea of Inheritance

- Under the Old Covenant, Israel’s inheritance was tangible land (Deuteronomy 26:1).

- In the New Covenant, believers receive a spiritual, eternal inheritance that “can never perish, spoil, or fade” (1 Peter 1:4).

- This promise is literal and guaranteed by God’s unchanging word.

Our Guaranteed Portion in Christ

- “In Him we were also chosen as God’s own, having been predestined according to the plan of Him who works out everything by the counsel of His will… the Holy Spirit, who is the pledge of our inheritance” (Ephesians 1:11, 13-14).

- Because the Spirit is a down payment, our inheritance is not wishful thinking but a secured reality.

- Romans 8:17 calls us “heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ,” tying our future glory to Christ’s own.

Living Now in Light of Future Ownership

• Assurance: Knowing the inheritance is guaranteed brings settled confidence amid uncertainty.

• Identity: We are sons and daughters, not spiritual orphans (Galatians 4:7).

• Stewardship: Heirs protect and cultivate what belongs to the family; we treat time, talents, and treasures as Kingdom property (Matthew 25:14-30).

• Holiness: “Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as Christ is pure” (1 John 3:3).

• Hope in suffering: Present trials are “not worth comparing with the glory to be revealed in us” (Romans 8:18).

Practical Steps for Daily Life

- Review inheritance promises during daily Bible reading—Ephesians 1, 1 Peter 1, Revelation 21.

- Replace envy with gratitude: what others gain now cannot rival your eternal share (Psalm 73:25-26).

- Practice generosity: giving away earthly goods affirms trust in heavenly riches (Matthew 6:19-21).

- Endure hardship by rehearsing Romans 8:28-30—God is using every event to prepare you for glory.

- Serve the church family; co-heirs invest in one another’s growth (Hebrews 10:24-25).

Scriptures to Anchor Your Heart

Colossians 1:12: “Giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light.”

Acts 20:32: “Now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all who are sanctified.”

Hebrews 9:15: “Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance.”

Hold these truths tightly; live today as the heir you truly are.

What role does obedience play in receiving God's inheritance, as seen in Numbers 34:13?
