Impact of Psalm 104:5 on stewardship?
How should Psalm 104:5 influence our stewardship of God's creation?

Rooted in God’s Firm Foundation

“He set the earth on its foundations; it will never be moved.” (Psalm 104:5)

God Himself fixed the planet in place—stable, purposeful, and under His sovereign rule. This literal act tells us three things:

• Creation is intentional, not accidental.

• Its stability reflects God’s faithfulness.

• The earth ultimately belongs to Him, not to us.

Stewardship Implications

Because the earth is firmly established by the Lord, our care for it should reflect:

• Respect for the Owner — Psalm 24:1 “The earth is the LORD’s, and the fullness thereof.” We manage what is His, not exploit what is ours.

• Confidence, not panic — While the planet cannot be shaken from God’s decree, reckless misuse still dishonors Him and harms His creatures.

• Long-term thinking — A foundation implies permanence. Acting for short-term gain at long-term expense contradicts the Creator’s design.

Practical Steps for Daily Life

• Use resources gratefully, not wastefully.

• Reduce needless consumption and recycle where possible.

• Protect habitats: support or volunteer in conservation work that aligns with biblical values.

• Treat animals humanely (Proverbs 12:10), remembering they are part of God’s good world.

• Teach children that creation care is an act of worship, flowing from Genesis 1:28 stewardship, not secular environmentalism.

• Pray before major purchases or projects—ask whether they reflect dominion with responsibility (Genesis 2:15).

Encouragement from Other Scriptures

Colossians 1:16-17 — “All things were created through Him and for Him.” His sustaining power motivates careful management.

Revelation 11:18 — God will “destroy those who destroy the earth,” underscoring accountability.

Isaiah 45:18 — He “formed the earth … to be inhabited,” reminding us that healthy environments bless people.

Psalm 104:5 calls us to steward a world God has settled on unshakable foundations. Caring for it today is an act of gratitude, obedience, and confident hope in the One who holds all things together.

In what ways can we trust God's control over the world's stability today?
