Link 2 Peter 1:3 & Phil 4:13 on power.
Connect 2 Peter 1:3 with Philippians 4:13 on divine empowerment.

Divine Power: The All-Sufficient Gift

“His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.” (2 Peter 1:3)

• Origin: “His divine power” — God Himself is the source.

• Certainty: “has given” — a completed, irreversible act.

• Scope: “everything we need” — no aspect of life or godliness is left uncovered.

• Channel: “through the knowledge of Him” — knowing Christ personally unlocks the provision.

• Motivation: “called us by His own glory and excellence” — His character guarantees the gift.

Living It Out: All Things Through Christ

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13)

• “I can” — personal participation is expected.

• “do all things” — from enduring hardship to pursuing ministry, nothing lies outside His enablement.

• “through Christ” — the same Person who granted power in 2 Peter 1:3 now channels it moment by moment.

• “who gives me strength” — an ongoing supply, not a one-time boost.

One Source, Two Angles

2 Peter 1:3 looks back to the gift already deposited; Philippians 4:13 looks forward to the gift applied in the present.

• Together they teach:

– God has fully equipped His people.

– Believers actively draw on that equipment in every circumstance.

• The empowerment is both positional (already ours) and practical (constantly experienced).

Practical Pathways to Walk in Empowerment

• Recognize the gift — meditate on 2 Peter 1:3 until confidence replaces doubt.

• Rehearse dependence — verbally confess Philippians 4:13 when facing tasks or trials.

• Renew the mind — fill thoughts with Christ’s promises (Romans 12:2).

• Receive by the Spirit — “be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power” (Ephesians 6:10).

• Respond in obedience — step forward, knowing sufficiency is guaranteed.

Additional Witnesses from Scripture

Acts 1:8 — “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.”

Ephesians 3:16 — “He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being.”

Colossians 1:29 — “To this end I labor, striving with all His energy working powerfully within me.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 — “My power is perfected in weakness.”

Isaiah 40:29-31 — “He gives power to the faint… those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength.”

The same divine power that granted “everything we need” is the power that lets every believer say, “I can.”

How can we practically grow in the 'knowledge of Him' daily?
