Connect Exodus 39:26 to New Testament teachings on holiness and worship.

The Priestly Garment in Exodus 39:26

• “a bell and a pomegranate alternated around the lower hem of the robe to be worn for ministry, as the LORD had commanded Moses.”

• Bells: audible testimony that the high priest was serving in God’s presence.

• Pomegranates: abundant fruit, a visual of life, fertility, and blessing.

• Together they declare that ministry before the LORD must combine clear witness (sound) with holy fruit (sight).

Sound and Fruit: Two Pictures of Holy Ministry

• The bells rang with every step—ministry that is openly audible, transparent, and accountable (cf. 1 Corinthians 14:40).

• The pomegranates hung in between—ministry that produces spiritual fruit (cf. Galatians 5:22-23).

• Holiness is never silent ritual; worship is never empty show. Both must blend, just as on the robe’s hem.

Christ, Our Great High Priest

Hebrews 7:24-25: Jesus “permanently holds His priesthood” and “always lives to intercede.” His ongoing intercession is the ultimate “sound” of priestly bells.

Hebrews 9:24: He “entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.” The perfect Priest fulfills the type, entering where only a holy life can go.

John 15:5: “He who abides in Me and I in him bears much fruit.” Christ supplies the pomegranate-like fruit in every believer who abides in Him.

Believers as a Royal Priesthood Today

1 Peter 2:9: “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood… that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who called you.”

Revelation 1:6: He “made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father.”

• Our calling mirrors the robe’s design:

– Proclamation that can be heard (bells).

– Character that can be seen (fruit).

Worship That Rings True

John 4:23-24: “true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth.” Both inner reality (fruit) and outward confession (sound) matter.

Romans 12:1: “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—your spiritual service of worship.”

Hebrews 12:28-29: “let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe.”

Living Out the Lesson

• Walk in holiness so that every “step” rings with integrity.

• Cultivate the Spirit’s fruit so that your life visually declares God’s abundance.

• Keep both in balance; a silent robe lacks witness, a fruitless robe lacks authenticity.

• Fix your eyes on Christ, the flawless Priest who unites perfect sound and perfect fruit, and follow Him into a life of holy worship.
