Link Isaiah 4:3 & Rev 21:27 on purity.
Connect Isaiah 4:3 with Revelation 21:27 on purity and God's kingdom.

A faithful remnant promised in Isaiah 4:3

“Then all who remain in Zion, all who are left in Jerusalem, will be called holy—everyone who is recorded among the living in Jerusalem.” (Isaiah 4:3)

• God envisions a cleansed community after judgment.

• Holiness is not optional; it is the very identity of the survivors.

• Their names are “recorded,” highlighting divine registry and security.

The perfected city revealed in Revelation 21:27

“But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who practices an abomination or a lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.” (Revelation 21:27)

• The New Jerusalem is utterly pure—no sin, no deceit, no death.

• Entrance is limited to those whose names appear in Christ’s book.

• The Lamb’s atonement guarantees both cleansing and access.

Connecting the two passages

Both texts share three striking elements:

1. A holy registry

• Isaiah: “recorded among the living.”

• Revelation: “written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

• God Himself keeps the list; salvation is personal and known to Him.

2. Purity as the qualifying mark

• Isaiah calls the remnant “holy.”

• Revelation bans “nothing unclean.”

• Holiness is not just status but suitability for God’s presence.

3. A purified community dwelling with God

• Isaiah pictures restored Zion.

• Revelation unveils the eternal city where “the dwelling place of God is with man” (Revelation 21:3).

Purity as a kingdom prerequisite

Scripture consistently echoes this theme:

Matthew 5:8 — “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.”

Hebrews 12:14 — “Pursue peace with everyone, and holiness—without it no one will see the Lord.”

Ephesians 5:5 — “For of this you can be sure: no immoral, impure, or greedy person… has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

1 Peter 1:15-16 — “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Living pure today

Practical responses that flow from these truths:

• Receive cleansing through Christ alone (1 John 1:7).

• Walk in ongoing repentance and confession (1 John 1:9).

• Guard the heart and mind—holiness begins inside (Proverbs 4:23).

• Cultivate fellowship with like-minded believers; community sharpens holiness (Hebrews 10:24-25).

• Serve in anticipation of the coming city, “looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells” (2 Peter 3:13).

Encouragement and hope

God’s story moves from a refined remnant in earthly Jerusalem to a spotless multitude in the heavenly Jerusalem. If your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you are already part of that narrative. Hold fast to His cleansing work, pursue holiness in gratitude, and look forward to the day when purity is not a struggle but the atmosphere of home.

How can we strive for holiness as described in Isaiah 4:3?
