Link Lev 26:7 & Eph 6:10-18: spiritual armor.
Connect Leviticus 26:7 with Ephesians 6:10-18 on spiritual warfare and armor.

The promise of victory recorded

“You will pursue your enemies, and they will fall by the sword before you.” (Leviticus 26:7)

• Spoken to Israel as part of the covenant blessings for obedience

• Literal assurance of triumph over hostile armies

• Reveals God’s heart for His people to walk in fearless confidence, relying on His strength rather than their own

From physical swords to spiritual armor

“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” (Ephesians 6:10)

• The New Testament redirects the battlefield: “our struggle is not against flesh and blood” (v. 12)

• Same God, same commitment to His people’s victory, but the arena is now spiritual

• Physical enemies in Leviticus foreshadow the unseen forces Paul lists: rulers, authorities, powers of this darkness, spiritual forces of evil (v. 12)

Suiting up: the full armor of God

1. Belt of truth (v. 14)

 • Truth keeps everything in place, preventing tripping on deception

 • Jesus: “Your word is truth” (John 17:17)

2. Breastplate of righteousness (v. 14)

 • Christ’s righteousness guards the heart

 • “God made Him…to be sin for us…so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

3. Footwear of gospel readiness (v. 15)

 • Firm footing to advance, not merely defend

 • Isaiah 52:7 praises those whose feet carry good news

4. Shield of faith (v. 16)

 • Extinguishes every flaming arrow—doubts, accusations, temptations

 • “Faith is the victory that has overcome the world.” (1 John 5:4)

5. Helmet of salvation (v. 17)

 • Guards the mind with assurance of rescue already secured

 • “Take hold of the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:18)

6. Sword of the Spirit—Word of God (v. 17)

 • Only offensive weapon named, enabling pursuit like Leviticus 26:7

 • Jesus used Scripture to fell Satan’s temptations (Matthew 4:1-11)

7. Prayer in the Spirit (v. 18)

 • Unceasing communication fuels every piece of armor

 • “Call on Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you” (Psalm 50:15)

Standing and advancing

• Leviticus speaks of enemies falling “by the sword before you.”

• Ephesians calls believers to “stand,” then wield the Word so that dark powers fall before Christ’s authority expressed through His people.

• The goal is not survival but conquest: spreading truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, and God’s Word until “the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet” (Romans 16:20).

Why victory is certain

• “We are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

• “The weapons of our warfare…have divine power to demolish strongholds.” (2 Corinthians 10:4)

• “Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)

God guarantees the outcome; our part is obedient participation.

Practical steps to walk in triumph

• Daily renew your mind in Scripture, tightening the belt of truth.

• Confess and forsake sin quickly, keeping the breastplate secure.

• Share the gospel in word and deed, taking ground with peaceful feet.

• Exercise faith through praise and gratitude, raising the shield.

• Meditate on Christ’s finished work, settling the helmet firmly.

• Memorize and speak Scripture aloud, swinging the Spirit’s sword.

• Maintain constant, Spirit-led prayer, staying alert for fellow saints.

God’s covenant promise of pursuing and overcoming enemies (Leviticus 26:7) finds its spiritual fulfillment in the believer who puts on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) and lives every day in Christ’s assured victory.

How can we apply the victory promise in Leviticus 26:7 to spiritual battles?
