How can we live daily in light of our salvation through Jesus? Our Fixed Foundation “For God has not appointed us to suffer wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Thessalonians 5:9 • Salvation is God’s settled plan, not a tentative offer. • Wrath is removed; peace with God is secured. • This reality becomes the lens through which every ordinary day is viewed. The Gospel Mindset for Every Morning • Wake up assured, not anxious—Jesus has already borne the wrath you deserved. • Move into the day with gratitude; thankfulness is fuel for obedience (Colossians 3:15). • See each task—work, study, parenting, errands—as service rendered to the One who saved you (Colossians 3:23-24). Daily Practices That Flow from Salvation 1. Treasure the Word • Begin and end the day reading or listening to Scripture (Psalm 119:105). • Let God’s promises shape your thoughts before social media or news headlines do. 2. Pray Continually • Short, honest prayers throughout the day keep fellowship unbroken (1 Thessalonians 5:17). • Cast burdens immediately instead of carrying them (1 Peter 5:7). 3. Walk in Holiness • Reject habits Jesus died to free you from (Titus 2:11-12). • Pursue purity in speech, entertainment, and relationships (Ephesians 5:3-4). 4. Love the Family of God • Encourage fellow believers; build them up, just as you also are doing (1 Thessalonians 5:11). • Use spiritual gifts for the common good (1 Peter 4:10). 5. Witness with Hope • Speak of the rescue you’ve received (1 Peter 3:15). • Live noticeably different, making the gospel attractive (Matthew 5:16). 6. Stay Watchful • “So then, let us not sleep as the others do, but let us remain awake and sober” (1 Thessalonians 5:6). • Remember that Jesus could return at any moment; let expectancy purify conduct (1 John 3:2-3). Scripture Connections That Anchor Confidence • John 5:24: “Whoever hears My word and believes Him who sent Me has eternal life and will not come under judgment.” • Romans 8:1: “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” • Ephesians 2:8-10: Saved by grace for good works prepared beforehand. • Titus 2:13-14: Grace trains us while we await “the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ.” Living Awake and Sober • Put on “the breastplate of faith and love, and the helmet of the hope of salvation” (1 Thessalonians 5:8). • Faith guards the heart; love motivates action; hope shields the mind. • End every day as it began—resting in the sure salvation secured by Jesus, confident that tomorrow holds no wrath, only grace and purpose. |
