Prepare for future challenges wisely.
How should we prepare for future challenges, inspired by Acts 11:28's message?

Setting the Stage: Acts 11:28

“ One of them named Agabus stood up and foretold through the Spirit that a great famine would sweep across the entire Roman world. This happened under Claudius.”

Recognize God’s Warning System

• God sometimes alerts His people before difficulty arrives (Genesis 41:28-32; Amos 3:7).

• Such warnings are gracious invitations to prepare, not reasons to panic.

• We honor Him by taking His Word and His promptings seriously.

Prioritize Spiritual Readiness

• Pursue daily repentance and obedience (Luke 6:46-49).

• Clothe yourself in the full armor of God so that “you will be able to stand in the evil day” (Ephesians 6:10-18).

• Strengthen faith through Scripture, prayer, and fellowship; spiritual reserves matter more than stocked pantries (Psalm 119:11).

Plan Wisely and Practically

• Joseph stored grain during years of plenty, saving nations in famine (Genesis 41:33-36).

• The ant “prepares its provisions in summer” (Proverbs 6:6-8).

• Practical steps today—budgeting, modest reserves of necessities, developing useful skills—honor the God who grants foresight.

Cultivate Generous Community

• The disciples in Antioch “each decided, according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers living in Judea” (Acts 11:29-30).

• Challenges are weathered best together; share burdens, resources, and encouragement (Galatians 6:2).

• Hold possessions loosely, ready to bless others (1 Timothy 6:18).

Trust God’s Sovereign Provision

• David declares, “I have not seen the righteous forsaken” (Psalm 37:25).

• Prepare, yet refuse anxiety; the Lord “knows that you need all these things” (Matthew 6:32-33).

• Gratitude for present mercies fuels confidence for future needs.

Maintain an Eternal Perspective

• “Our light and momentary affliction is producing for us an eternal glory” (2 Corinthians 4:17-18).

• Trials deepen hope in the coming kingdom (Romans 8:18-25).

• Live expectantly: “The end of all things is near; therefore be sober-minded and alert” (1 Peter 4:7).

Putting It All Together

• Hear and heed God’s warnings.

• Strengthen your walk with Christ.

• Act with prudent diligence.

• Stand shoulder to shoulder with fellow believers.

• Rest in the Father’s faithfulness.

Living this way, you will be ready—whatever tomorrow brings.

In what ways can we support others during times of crisis, as seen here?
