How can we prepare our hearts to be filled with God's glory daily? The Tent Filled, Our Hearts Today “Then the cloud covered the Tent of Meeting, and the glory of the LORD filled the tabernacle.” (Exodus 40:34) As the tabernacle was completed, God moved in. That same pattern applies to every believer: when Christ finishes His saving work in us, His glory desires to settle, shine, and stay. Recognize Whose Glory We Host • 1 Corinthians 3:16—“Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?” • John 1:14—The Word “tabernacled among us,” and now lives within us. • 2 Corinthians 4:6—The God who said “Let light shine out of darkness” has “shone in our hearts.” Daily preparation begins by remembering the greatness of the Guest. Clear the Room: Confession and Cleansing • Psalm 24:3-4—Only “he who has clean hands and a pure heart” ascends the hill of the LORD. • James 4:8—“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands…purify your hearts.” • 1 John 1:9—Confession sweeps out the accumulated dust so glory is unhindered. Practical step: Take time each day to let the Spirit search you, admit sin promptly, and receive Christ’s cleansing. Open the Doors: Cultivating Expectant Worship • Psalm 100:4—“Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.” • Ephesians 5:18-20—Be filled with the Spirit, “speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.” Songs, spoken gratitude, and simple awe invite the same Presence that filled the ancient tent. Keep the Flame Burning: Daily Word Intake • Colossians 3:16—“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” • Joshua 1:8—Meditate day and night for prosperous, obedient living. Reading, memorizing, and meditating on Scripture stoke a continual fire of glory inside. Set the Furniture: Obedient Living • Romans 12:1-2—Offer your bodies as living sacrifices; be transformed by renewed minds. • John 14:23—“If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word…We will come to him and make Our home with him.” Obedience arranges the interior of our lives so the King finds everything in order. Protect the Sanctuary: Guard Against Compromise • Proverbs 4:23—“Guard your heart with all diligence, for from it flow springs of life.” • Ephesians 4:30—Do not grieve the Spirit. • 2 Timothy 2:21—A vessel cleansed from dishonor is “useful to the Master.” What we watch, read, say, and do either welcomes or resists the glory. Stay in Step With the Cloud: Sensitivity to the Spirit • Exodus 40:36-38—Israel moved only when the cloud lifted. • Romans 8:14—“All who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.” • Galatians 5:25—“If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit.” Regular pauses to listen direct our schedules, conversations, and decisions under His guidance. Overflowing Glory: Blessing Others • 2 Corinthians 4:7—We carry treasure in jars of clay “to show that this surpassingly great power is from God.” • Matthew 5:16—Let your light shine so others glorify the Father. • 1 Peter 2:9—Declared “that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him” who called you out of darkness. A heart daily filled inevitably spills glory into workplaces, homes, and neighborhoods. Living like the tabernacle—cleansed, ordered, and open—positions us to experience the same divine fullness that descended in Exodus 40:34, not once, but day after day. |
