How can we rely on Jesus' eternal priesthood in our daily lives? The Verse in Focus “Now there have been many other priests, since death prevented them from continuing in office.” (Hebrews 7:23) “But because Jesus lives forever, He has a permanent priesthood.” (Hebrews 7:24) Our Unchanging High Priest • Old-covenant priests came and went; every term ended at the grave. • Jesus rose, lives forever, and therefore never relinquishes His post. • His permanence means your standing with God does not fluctuate with moods, mistakes, or changing cultural winds. Why His Priesthood Matters Today • Constant Representation – “He always lives to intercede for them.” (Hebrews 7:25) • Complete Salvation – “He is able to save completely those who draw near to God through Him.” (Hebrews 7:25) • Sympathy in Weakness – “We do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.” (Hebrews 4:15) • Open Access – “Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence.” (Hebrews 4:16) Practical Ways to Rely on His Priesthood 1. Begin the day conscious of His intercession. – Thank Him that He is already speaking your name before the Father (Romans 8:34). 2. Draw near quickly after failure. – Instead of hiding in shame, confess and rest in His advocacy (1 John 2:1). 3. Pray boldly for help in real time. – During temptation, whisper, “Jesus, my High Priest, give me grace to stand.” (Hebrews 4:16) 4. Anchor identity in His finished work, not fluctuating feelings. – Remind yourself: “My access is secured by blood, not performance.” (Hebrews 10:19-22) 5. Intercede for others with confidence. – Join His ongoing ministry by lifting friends, family, and leaders to the Father. 6. Face decisions through His guidance. – Because He is “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6), ask Him to direct every choice. 7. End each day resting in His permanence. – No night can undo what His endless life guarantees. Encouraging Promises • Constant advocacy: “Jesus Christ... is at the right hand of God—and He is interceding for us.” (Romans 8:34) • Cleansed conscience: “Having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience.” (Hebrews 10:22) • Ever-open door: “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6) Closing Encouragement Every sunrise finds Jesus still on duty, every sunset leaves Him unchanged. Lean on the certainty of His eternal priesthood, and you will walk each day with an unshakable, grace-filled confidence before God. |
