How can we remove "prostitution" and "kings' corpses" from our spiritual lives today? Setting the Context Ezekiel 43:9: “Now let them put away their prostitution and the corpses of their kings far from Me, so that I may dwell among them forever.” God is speaking to a restored Israel, insisting that the people clear every defilement so His glory can fill the temple. The same God still seeks a holy dwelling place—our lives (1 Corinthians 3:16). Understanding “Prostitution” Today Spiritual prostitution is any unfaithfulness that lures our devotion away from the Lord. • Worldly alliances (James 4:4) • Addictive habits that rule us (Romans 6:16) • Idolatry of money, success, leisure, or relationships (Colossians 3:5) Whatever seduces our hearts becomes a rival lover. Identifying “Kings’ Corpses” in the Heart Ancient kings’ tombs were often built near pagan altars. Corpses represent death, decay, and uncleanness (Numbers 19:11-13). Modern “kings’ corpses” are lingering relics of our old life: • Past sins we secretly cherish • Prideful achievements we enthrone • Bitterness, unforgiveness, or unresolved grudges • Traditions or ideologies that override God’s word Anything dead but still enthroned contaminates the inner sanctuary. Steps for Cleansing the Temple Within 1. Examine: Ask the Spirit to search and expose hidden rivals (Psalm 139:23-24). 2. Confess: Name every “prostitution” and “corpse” without excuse (1 John 1:9). 3. Repent: Turn decisively; cut ties, delete apps, change routines, end ungodly relationships (Matthew 5:29-30). 4. Replace: Fill emptied spaces with Scripture, prayer, fellowship, and service (Ephesians 5:18-20). 5. Guard: Keep short accounts with God; daily surrender thoughts, desires, and plans (Romans 12:1-2). Living Consecrated for His Indwelling • Holiness is separation unto Christ, not mere avoidance of evil (2 Corinthians 6:16-7:1). • Purity protects intimacy; the cleaner the temple, the clearer His presence. • Obedience invites ongoing filling: “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word… We will come to him and make Our home with him” (John 14:23). Encouragement from Other Scriptures • “Flee from sexual immorality… you are not your own; you were bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). • “Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature” (Colossians 3:5). • “Walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16). Remove the prostitutes, bury the corpses, and the King of glory will gladly occupy the throne of your heart—just as He promised in Ezekiel. |
