Ways to support fellow Christians?
How can we practically support and appreciate our "fellow workers in Christ"?

Seeing Paul’s Heart in Romans 16:9

“Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and my beloved Stachys.”

Paul’s brief line radiates warmth and honor. He singles out Urbanus as “our fellow worker” and calls Stachys “beloved.” In one sentence he models celebration, partnership, and personal affection.

Why Appreciation Matters

• Affirms God’s work in others (Philippians 1:3–5)

• Strengthens unity (Ephesians 4:3)

• Sparks further service (Hebrews 10:24–25)

• Glorifies the Lord who appointed every member (1 Corinthians 12:18)

Practical Ways to Support Fellow Workers

• Offer sincere verbal thanks. A simple “I’m grateful for what you do” mirrors Paul’s greetings.

• Send written encouragement—texts, notes, or emails that quote Scripture such as 1 Thessalonians 5:11.

• Pray for them by name and tell them you’re praying (Colossians 1:9).

• Share resources—books, sermon links, study materials—to enrich their ministry (2 Timothy 4:13).

• Provide hands-on help: set-up, childcare, meals, transportation. Galatians 6:2 calls us to “carry one another’s burdens.”

• Give financially when appropriate, following the pattern of Philippians 4:15–16 and 3 John 8.

• Celebrate milestones—baptisms, completed projects, anniversaries of service—rejoicing together (Romans 12:15).

Cultivating Genuine Appreciation

• Observe quietly: notice the unseen tasks others handle.

• Speak specifically: “Your teaching on James 1 clarified trials for me,” instead of a vague “good job.”

• Guard against comparison; value every role equally (1 Corinthians 12:22–25).

• Defend fellow workers if criticism arises, covering them in love (Proverbs 17:9).

Drawing Strength from Scripture

1 Corinthians 3:9 – “For we are God’s fellow workers.” Remember whose mission we share.

Colossians 4:12 – Epaphras “always wrestles in prayer” for the church; intercession is vital support.

1 Timothy 5:17 – Honor faithful leaders, especially those who labor in preaching and teaching.

Hebrews 6:10 – God “will not forget your work and the love you have shown.” Our gratitude echoes His.

Putting It Into Practice This Week

• Choose one fellow worker and thank them face to face.

• Schedule a five-minute daily prayer slot for ministry partners.

• Send a verse-filled note of encouragement before Sunday.

• Look for one tangible task you can shoulder to lighten someone’s load.

Small, consistent gestures—modeled by Paul in Romans 16:9—build a culture where every laborer for Christ feels seen, valued, and energized for the gospel.
