What is "keep and do all written"?
What does it mean to "keep and do all that is written"?

The Anchor Verse

“Be very strong, therefore, to keep and do all that is written in the Book of the Law of Moses, without turning aside to the right or to the left.” Joshua 23:6

Two Verbs, One Heart

• keep – guard, treasure, protect the Word

• do – act, obey, live out the Word

Together they picture a life that both holds Scripture close and lets Scripture shape every choice.

Why This Matters

• God’s Word is perfect truth (Psalm 19:7)

• Obedience proves love for Christ (John 14:15)

• Blessing follows hearing and doing (James 1:22-25)

What “Keep” Looks Like

• Daily intake – reading, listening, memorizing (Deuteronomy 6:6-9)

• Heart storage – letting verses sink below the surface (Psalm 119:11)

• Vigilant defense – refusing distortions or additions (Galatians 1:8)

What “Do” Looks Like

• Immediate obedience – acting on known commands without delay (Matthew 4:19-20)

• Whole-life application – relationships, work, money, speech, worship (Colossians 3:17)

• Consistent endurance – staying the course “without turning aside” (Hebrews 10:36)

Practical Rhythms for Today

1. Set a fixed time each day to engage Scripture.

2. Journal one clear action step from what you read.

3. Share that step with a trusted believer for accountability.

4. Revisit the passage at day’s end, thanking God for strength to obey.

5. Repeat tomorrow, building a lifestyle of keeping and doing.

The Promised Outcome

“When a man’s ways please the LORD, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.” Proverbs 16:7

Keeping and doing all that is written leads to steadfast courage, steady peace, and a life that unmistakably displays the glory of God.

How can we 'be very strong' in obeying God's commands today?
